Another question for the people of the Froum: high flow water pumps. I've seen them but I'm thinking it's not worth the money since I'll probably stick a “high flow” 180 degree Tstat in it anyways. Are they worth the money or is a stock replacement good for me?

You can only pump so much coolant through the stock radiator...some aluminum radiators have larger flow paths which would better accommodate a high flow waterpump. But I wouldnt think it a necessity unless you are using underdrive pulleys and are moving less coolant than needed to keep cool. I would use it to solve a problem rather then prevent one myself.

If you are using an aftermarket radiator you could get the coolant flow/volume numbers from the manufacturer hopefully

the explorer 302 has a high volume water pump stock
The stock thermostat is 195 degrees, installing a 180 thermo may hurt you as the computer will never see the 205 water temp required for it to switch into closed loop
I tried that in my BII, water temp never went over 195 and the truck always ran rich

I didn't think about the computer side of things, I'll stick with the stock 205.

Is it true that the small block Windsor has trouble cool one of the back cylinders? I've heard it has that issue somewhere

4.7 dodge had oil passage clogs, 400 small block chevy had thin cylinder walls and a heat problem in general. ford 4.0 SOHC decided to put a timing chain behind the engine but have never heard any specific cylinder problems on the windsor blocks. About as solid as it gets.

Installed some injectors! They fit fine in the trick flow lower manifold. The heater core steel lines did not fit right... Ended up cutting a little bit of metal since I didn't want it resting right on the back two injectors.

I'm gona try and make the 98 throttle body elbow work. So far everything but the egr valve lines up... not a 100% sure on how to make it work since the connectors are different.

heck yes!! This is what I like to see
somebody elses chicken scratch notes.
I have a whole box full of papers like that
Every single conversion is different and they all require some sort of wiring.
Map out the truck side (02 at the 42 pin plug)
then map out the drivetrain side (96 Explorer at the 42 pin plug)
things will start to become clear on what goes where and why

The stock thermostat is 195 degrees use a stant super stat and put the little bleeder hole at the top.

I will be dealing the wiring on my 07 swap starting next week, finishing up a bunch of other "fall time" projects and I am almost done!!

Keep up the good work!!!
On some of my conversions (MY BII) I have deleted the metal heater tube manifold and just ran regular old school heater hoses.
Basically you cut the one tube right after the temp sensor that threads into the lower intake and then flare it and run a hose, the other hose goes directly to the heater core

I can sorta already see how it'll work out. The plan: go to the junk yard and cut a 42 pin connector out of a ranger so I can make all the connections on the bench instead of in the truck. Still haven't made my mind up on how I want to make the speedo work... looking for the path of least resistance lol

Anyone got anything against the deleting of the EGR? I've been trying to decide what throttle body elbow to use and I'm kinda thinking of just mounted the throttle body right to the upper manifold. Like a foxbody would have it.

Went to the junk yard, got the same year 42 pin connector off a ranger so it's wiring time! Also got a lower air box and air box mounting plate.

If any one needs any expo 5.0 parts the yard I go to has three two early model and one late model. The late model is low mileage as well (137k)

@jamman this radiator would look great with your FMS headers... 😉😉😉

If you are trying to link from your purchased page the link breaks. Youd need to find the original advertisement and copy n paste it for the link to work.

Ordered some emblems off eBay. Thanks for jamman for making me think outside the box. I'm gona put them right at the back of the hood. Since I got the power dome they are going on the side where it raises up. Should look sweet some up.
