 Hello members,

Despite your great write-ups about this and I'm sorry if this is redundant to some of you pros, but I'm in a desperate situation and just need someone to show me where the wires go PLEASE!? I dont have the luxury of time to study and understand why it works. I just need to start my vehicle and get back to work. Can you please help me?? 


All I need is a basic sketch on where the wires go from the coil pack to their designated spark plugs at their designated cylinders.

 It really depends on which coil you have, or rather if you have switched from one to the other since the input wires will fit either but they are different. There are 2, one plugs in from the side, one plugs in from the top.

Basically if it was running at one point with the coil pack you had on it just follow the numbers on either picture where the wires go:

Much easier

1-2-3-4-6-5 

Cylinder 1 is always the cylinder furthest forward on a Ford
The passenger side head is further forward then the drivers on a 4.0

the pass side coil wiring match the coil pack
The drivers side does not

the wires on many years feed under the intake plenum
If you remove the big wiring plug from its mount (drivers side head)  it makes it much easier to fish the 3 wires through

I have been doing this for many many years
I still refer to the picture, I have it taped to the wall of the shop

 Fun fact for the non gurus... did you know there are only 3 coils in that pack? 1 and 5 fire together, 6 and 2 fire together, 3 and 4 fire together.

Firing order 1 4 2 5 3 6

You get a spark on the exhaust upstroke also some theorize it helps with emissions.

You can switch wires 1 and 5, 6 and 2 AND 3 and 4 it runs exactly the same.

Go ahead ask me how I know LOL.
