I need a window regulator driver side for my 98 Ranger.

Napa's website shows a 2008 as being the correct regulator still.

I got this regulator from the salvage yard from a 2008 and it will not work the mounting bracket will not transfer over to the smaller motor.

I went to Napa or O'Reilly's Pepboys in Advance Auto Parts and they're all trying to sell me this smaller window regulator motor.
They say since it will not work that I have to buy an entire window regulator assembly.

I do not want to do this what window regulator and where can I find it?

Any suggestions

I've never seen a motor go out on one of those so I have no experience, I'm sure someone will chime in soon.

IIf you change the whole regulator it will work. The 08 motor will not interchange with the 98 track assembly.

I ended up giving up finding the correct motor, I put an assy in and the window works great for now.

I plan to put in the cruise button tomm, anything special I might know to make it any easier?

Ill assume the airbag has to be removed, assuming like most vehicles either a couple of screws accessible from backside of wheel or some sort of spring clip?

Anything else you could enlighten me on?

Thanks, hope your window motors never go bad, the replacements are not as beefy

Disconnect battery.
Wait 5 minutes.
On the right and left of the steering wheel there are plastic cover disks about 1" in diameter.
Remove them carefully with a very small screwdriver, they just pop out.

This reveals 2 screws, forgot the socket size but it is metric.

With the 2 screws removed you can pull the airbag forward just enough to get to the connector. The connector is easy to remove, then you can see the rest.

Did you just get pods or pods and wiring or? Getting the connectors out of the old pods can be a pain, I usually pry the covers off first.

HINT: If the covers are already torn to pieces you can push the 2 black tabs enough to get the board out without breaking the tabs! HOWEVER breaking the tabs is kinda normal, there is no way to get the boards out without breaking them if there is a cover on. The new board and the new cover should go right on securely and stay anyway.

Buggman has a tutorial on his youtube channel.

Ok thanks, I got the set with the wires, air bags/dashes are no problem for me, I do them pretty often but they are not all the same as you know

I thought maybe you had purchased the Buggman LED upgrade.

Short of the ground wire at the top left screw and reconnecting the 2 horn wires there isn't much to this.

Avoid over tightening the 4 screws since they are threaded in to metal it is easy to crack the plastic on the pods.

Take pics!
