I pulled apart my shift motor and I do not see any electrical contacts nor do I see a plastic ball that deteriorates over time.

Can someone tell me what Im looking at here and whats next?

Also why cant I post multiple images on one post?

On the home bar you'll see MENU. Tap or click on it. A drop down will appear. Tap or click on GALLERY. Under the alphabet you'll see UPLOAD PHOTOS. From there youll be able to load photos to your gallery. Dont forget to upload them. Then when you are making your post you tap or click on the G and it will take you to your photo gallery. Just keep tapping or clicking on G and select photos till you have all the photos for your post.

If there are a bunch of photos in the gallery than I dont see how you can point out that specific photo that I would be trying to reference?

Im sure it can be done but it would be a learning experience I guess.

You upload pictures to the gallery. The minute you have even one picture uploaded you will see it when you click on the member's gallery link way under your avatar.

THEN you will see only your pics when you click the "G" button in a post.

Though our routine is "different" I've been around playing with forum software back since the infopop days when phpbb, vbull and IPB didn't even exist. This routine we use was developed out of dislike for all other systems and is the second easiest way to do it. The first is drag and drop which results in huge database size and slow forums.

the elecrtical contacts are on top of that large round gear
pull the O ring off, white spacer and then the gear off and you will see the printed circuit board on top with the copper fingers that make contact.

The round metal "nub" on the bottom of the gear is where the plastic spacer once lived

I hope you marked the alignment of the case to top before you pulled it apart! Look for the small hash marks

I'll have to check it out again when I get home. I didn't see even after removing the o ring that anything more would come apart, it appeared sealed?

Where can I get the nub new?

Here are 2 motors, https://postimg.cc/Q9BkBsZD the one on the left was removed from a 2000 ranger this weekend, the one on the right is out of my 98, dont know if it is original but I would assume.

Look down into the cavity, two different castings, the one on the left has a raised area to presumably act as a stop for the knub/pin deal.

The one on the right ( out of my 98 with the black motor housing ) has a plastic insert down in there with half moon cut-outs to accept ( what I am assuming to be complete and not missing a nylon or plastic knub ) the steel pin that I will show in the next picture.

The one on left has the familiar plastic or nylon knub over what appears to be a Phillips head machine screw, mine on the right has a steel dowel that appears identical in size to mate with the plastic/nylon female receptacle down in my housing that I showed in previous pict.

As you can see I have taken a screwdriver and have chipped away at the edge of the housing, as I hope you can see in the next couple of pict I dont see how to access anything inside as far as contacts, yes the base is a separate piece but because of its conical shape the only real way that I can see it being removed without being destroyed would be thru the top and yet I dont see that as possible either so can someone tell me how to open this thing up properly?

I agree that in your model there is no missing stop, the metal pin contacts the plastic figure 8 shaped piece.
They did make changes over the years to make the shift motor more reliable thank goodness
I cannot see your pics in that last post not sure if its just me

Another thing worth noting is that if that is the case in that mine is an updated design than that would point to it being a replacement since the 2000 Ranger motor I show has the old crumbling pin
