I HAVE A 2003 RANGER WHEN I START UP THE VEH. AND TURN ON THE A/C IT WON'T START COOLING UNTIL ABOUT 10-15 MINS. I TRIED TO ADD FREON TO IT THINKING IT MIGHT BE LOW. WHEN I PUT THE GAUGE, THAT COMES WITH THE FREON CAN, ON IT REGISTERED IN THE RED LIKE IT WAS TO FULL.

Could be a blockage. Maybe dryer is plugged up or orfice tube. Could even be you have to much freon in it and its freezing up

All of the above. You need to take it to a place with a machine that can suck some out and get it to the right level first.

Then by the high and low pressures they can probably tell what is wrong.

I'm betting the orifice tube but it could be a clogged evaporator (dirty from being used) I have no idea the driving conditions.

You don't need dealer level service for this there are plenty of small shops with the right equipment to diagnose AC issues.

When you take a reading you need to make sure the compressor is running at the time. If not you are reading the equalized pressure between the high and low side. When the compressor is off the LOW side will read high and the HIGH side will read low.
