I won't be doing it but I like the idea, that handle is a great one to have.

I still want gauges on the A-Pillar !

Great write-up !

Ah, thanks Mike, i forgot about that style - do we know what size works well?

I found these, M10 - carbon steel is not a fancy way of saying aluminium, right? :)

Still trying to get my rivnuts and tool for this - i noticed that rivnuts have a range of metal thickness that they can manage.

What is the metal thickness there? I ask because some of these rivnuts only go up to 16ga metal, would we need 12ga?

Maxx, I do not know what the metal thickness is there. When I purchased the rivnut tool it came with selection of rivnuts, & I used the ones that where just slightly larger then the holes in the "A" pillar. I drilled out the holes in the "A" pillar to accommodate the rivnuts.

They were either stainless steel, or zinc plated carbon steel rivnuts.

Have you tried hanging off them yet? Tested how secure they are for example?

I use them to help haul my "old" body into my Ranger, I feel they are very secure.

I have a set of metric drill bits. I would find a 9mm drill bit. The conversion is 0.354". A 3/8 bit is 0.359". The real question is will being 0.005" oversize make a difference?

If you could get a 45/128" drill bit you would be golden.:)Any time I use SAE tools for metric project I will usually foul it up.

Actually, for your 9mm hole you can use a 23/64ths drill bit.

23/64 Bit Dewalt

Millimeters to inches conversion table
Millimeters (mm) (decimal) Inches (") (fraction)
7 mm      0.2756 ″     9/32 ″
8 mm      0.3150 ″     5/16 ″
9 mm      0.3543 ″     23/64 ″
10 mm    0.3937 ″     25/64 ″
