Yeah, let me know which wheel you end up wanting to lose please.

Also, trims arrived today, all perfect, amazing packing work i have to say :) Thanks again - parts ordered from Fordpartsgiant.com and i 'splashed' on the nuts/bolts as they seem to group them and they were cheap, never know, might be the right ones.

I think out of sheer laziness I'll sell my better wheel (the explorer one attached to my old dash) as I don't feel like taking off two wheels, putting one back on, only to replace it once more when I get a steering wheel for a 04-06 truck to swap in. It is in near perfect condition but is thinner than what you most likely have (not sure if that will be an issue for you). If you want it, drop me a PM and it is yours!

Glad to hear the parts got there safely! I was worried with their strange shape they may get broken so I was extra careful packaging them! Did you find any black grab handles yet?

Again, thanks for the parts, the box was in perfect condition and i was genuinely impressed how much effort you put in the packaging :)

I've never wanted to do a steering wheel swap before, but it occurred to me that the airbag pulls straight out and the wheel in your pic was a leather Ranger wheel that would just go right on without fitting or other awkwardness :)

I've no idea what the Exploder wheel is Vs all i just said, PM'ing you to take this "offline" ;)

Guess while i'm logged in I should update...

Rode around for most of the week like this:

Then this morning put on the rest:

A front end swap (to be blue again) is coming, but I am saving up my money for both the 4x4 swap and for school, so like this I will stay until I can afford new Ford parts.

On a lighter note, enjoy a better picture of my new interior:

And if you are following the progress with my cluster here is the latest update:

After the dash/cluster swap I had an engine light on. It was for the gas gauge reader not working. Along with that light my "check gage" light and the light I added as a "Low Fuel" light were both on, yet my tank was full and no gauges read anything less than perfect conditions.

Time passed and the 3rd day after the swap, the check engine light is gone. The light I added however is always on and so is the "check gage" light. I can only assume I wired something wrong or read the wrong schematics. I blocked off the pin I believed to be the low gas light pin and connected the positive end of the LEDs to that and the negative side to a common ground, I can only imagine that blocking that pin is somehow powering the "check gage" light having the opposite effect of what I wanted.

I'll continue this a little more just to get some info out there to whoever my be looking over this...

The Expo wheel I had in my truck was about half the thickness in the round circle section you hold on to that Ranger leather wheels have. Swapping from a rubber (or whatever a non leather wheel is) to the Expo wheel I had no idea it was not the same as a leather Ranger one as the thickness was the same as the wheel I removed. I only noticed a difference when I drove my dads truck one day, and I figured his wheel must have been redone. Since that point I have taken a closer look at Rangers in junkyards and Expos in the yards, and it seems Expos just had smaller wheels than that of the Ranger Leather wrapped ones.

The spline size between Ranger and Expo is the same, along with CC buttons and airbags. To swap the wheel all you need to do is remove the airbag (two 8mm bolts) and the center bolt holding the wheel in (I believe it was a T55 but I may be wrong) and then pull the wheel off and put a new one on (may require a gear puller).

I didn't know anyone was looking for leather wrapped wheels. I think I need to set up a For Sale thread.

Front end eventually will look way better and different eventually.

As for the interior, it is clean only because all my stuff (including my phone charger and other essentials) is still in/on my other dash and glovebox!

I will have to take inventory of what I have. Cameron has some stuff also. Only problem is shipping some of that stuff costs more than what the pieces are worth.

Time for a bit of an update, a kind of small one, but one to log progress.

First, I forgot to mention a while ago that I bought a brand new radiator core support from Ford, now I just have to wait for the right weather, tools, and time to install it.

Next, I bought myself some valentines day gifts since no one else did!

First, truck parts! Got the pillar trim from a 2003 Level II since the 2002 pillar trims are different sizes and wouldn't fit into my truck.

Next, I got myself a fun little tool that I've been wanting for a long time. An Angle Grinder!

That's all for now, more updates when more things happen!

Heh, i was about to buy a grinder, and found i had two, i don't think either of them are complete with regard to the disc attachment :( That looks like a nice one.

I wonder where your 2002 pillar trims went ;) Do you have the mounts already in your truck?

See, I thought I had a grinder and when it turned up that I didn't, I went to buy one. Almost bought a cheap one from work but decided to get one for the long haul. Found a gift card a friend gave me a few months ago to Home Depot that i've been saving for the right thing and decided to splurge! Best corded DeWalt one the store had!

Maybe we'll figure that out when someone puts them on their truck :P  And yeah, I already have handles, just ugly grey ones until I decide to get motivated again.

To everyone else:
I am working on a lot of projects right now, 4 that I can remember and hundreds put on hold. More updates when parts arrive! (And no, it isn't my cluster this time!)

Thanks, and they're really useful, i don't use them all the time, but more than half the time they're a great help to both my Wife and I.

Thanks again for the parts, worked out great.

Interesting clean up and build, a lot of work.

I didn't know the '02 and the '03s had different Window Posts, what changed or was this just the FX4 stuff ?

I was going to replace my gauges with aftermarket units and they had built in indicators that could be set for where ever you wanted a warning signal to happen, sweet stuff but it is another of my many projects just sitting and waiting.

Good Luck on your Projects and mods.

In 2003 Rangers got thicker windshields (safety reasons) and the windshield was angled differently. From 03 on, the cab stayed the same (unless you count the electronics and seats but that is another story).

Didn't know that, something to keep in mind.
I wonder if it make a difference with the Three-Gauge A-Pillar Pod, angle of the gauges...something I wanted to do !

The only difference you'll find is if you buy pillars for a 02 or older and try to put it into your truck, not actually sure if it will clip in or not, but if it does it'll look off.

Guess I have told a lot of people what I've been up to lately, so I may as well add it all to my build thread!

First, when doing something stupid I don't want to admit, I broke my window. Luckily it was the only window I have (Had) two of!

That led me to power swap my door since I had it torn completely apart anyways.

Then, I went to the Junkyard looking for a new header panel (Remember how I hit that deer? I'm still rebuilding from that.) but could not find any in good shape.

I did however find something else... The yard was just bringing in a 1994 with a manual transfer case!

I planned on walking out spending only $30, but I spent just a *little* bit more and walked out with it! It isn't the 2003 case I was planning on buying but at least this one I have right now and came with the shifter!

Speaking of the shifter, while I got all the parts to run the setup the same way the 94 did, I can not stand the black shifter (Yes, I know my interior is swapped to black but this is different!) so I am planning a custom shifter setup that hopefully looks stock and blows everyone away!

Just a transmission and a rear driveshaft left until I have all the parts I need to swap! (Swap is happening when my clutch goes out which feels like it will be soon) And this swap can not come soon enough, I am starting to have more car parts in my yard than Gnomes! Actually, I think I have more now. :ermm:
