That is also a very nice color  I don't see too many red Rangers either

Doing some more parts hunting.
I decided to just replace the door panels I have, for a couple of reasons.
1. I couldn't come up with a way to plug the hole without it looking tacky or ricey.
2. The arm rest portion is leather, and I prefer the cloth style my father's 03 Edge has, which is black to start with.
3. Mine are a little damaged. Someone who didn't care as much as I do had their paws on the truck before I got it, naturally, and  therefor some little clips here and there are broken.

Hopped on car-part, but didn't find anything local. Then it sort of dawned on me to look on ebay. Figure it couldn't hurt, and sure enough, I found a beautiful pair of grey XLT door panels WITH the switches for 134 and change, shipped to my door via fedex. Yes, a pair of panels with switches and bezels oh my in the configuration I want. Sold, to the man in the camo jacket!

Now I'm hunting around for some OEM mirrors. It appears I can get brand new OEM ones from oemfordpart, to the tune of ~100 per side. Little steep, if you ask me. Well, maybe I'm just feeling stingy. Or I can get a set for ~100, used, pulled from a local "they-pull". I'm a little hesitant, as I'm worried I'll wind up with more mirrors that don't have the correct mounting style, that is the glass mounting to the motor assembly. I'm going to go ahead and buy those heated turn signal glass panels. Yeah it's 200 for that, but I think it'll be worth it.

Or..... you can buy a brand new pair of 06 factory replacement koolvue power mirrors for $72. You can probably find them cheaper, this was just the first pair of koolvue power 06 I saw.

I assume you've looked inside the kool vue mirrors to see how the glass mounts? That's the only reason I'm being picky about OE mirrors. Otherwise I wouldn't care. If I can get brand new parts for a good price, I'll do that all day.

I have not....yet. I have a set of koolvues and the heated signal mirrors at 410s shop.

When I researched factory mirrors, the OEM mirrors were discontinued. Koolvue was the OEM factory replacement. I have ordered replacement mirrors for my rangers in the past and found a lot of the eBay ones used milar instead of a real mirror. Koolvue uses a real glass mirror

Back to color choice for a moment, I suggested 2015+ Ford Ruby Red (paint code RR).

I think his Ranger would look awesome in this color. :-)

I seriously do like that color. It's aggressive, and no ranger has ever been painted that color from the factory.

In other news, the interior is mostly stripped, and the vinyl floor is lying out and relaxin'.

It was my intention to completely remove the rear plastic along the cab walls, but I quickly realized that would require removing the side windows. I figure if the dash didn't require full removal, neither does this. I will have to mask off the glass, but that's a non issue.

Everything else is removed, though.

I did run into two areas of potential color-swap headache. The jump seats and seat belts. To my knowledge, the only Rangers that ever came with black interior components, other than a few bezels, were the FX4 Level II, and only a couple years. If I'm wrong, I'd be pleased to hear it.

If Possible, i'd like to get a set of black seatbelts, as they'll see frequent handling. As infrequent as the jump seats get used, I'd be OK with sem-ing those. That said, if black ones can be had for a good price, I wouldn't mind getting those.

The head liner will either get the SEM treatment, or if that doesn't work, covered with some thin fabric. I hope the SEM works out on my dual mirrors, though. I don't have a backup plan for those. The rest ought to be a cake walk. I do need to get a few more cans of SEM though.

In another area, most of you probably know I'm a sucker for RGB LEDs, the color changing ones. However, I've not been quite as vocal about my love for sequential turn signals. Love' em, no two ways about it. I was trying to figure out a way to get some on the back, but I couldn't come up with a method that didn't look, well, stupid.

Then it dawned on me.  The front end has 3 lamps on each side that will work just fine. So the front is getting Blinker Modded, Redux.

I did find these, on SuperBrightLEDs. Those of you with trailers or ideas in mind should like these.

Sequential Amber Oval LED Lamps

I briefly considered sticking a pair of these on, but I felt it would look wrong. Since I plan on putting a roll bar on, that will block the 3rd brake light. As a result, I want to replace it with one that you can actually see. I thought about moving the turn signals from the rear of the bed up to these and leaving the remaining turn signal chambers as running lights.

That  said, I still need to replace the cargo lights since those will be made inert as well. By the time I would put the third brake, turn signals and then the cargos all on that roll bar with Hellas, well... Starts looking kinda clustered and messy.

If I were going with a roll pan, (if this were a street truck) then it's a no brainer, put 'em in the bumper. But, this ain't a street truck and there's no roll pan going on this. Keeping the chrome bumper.

On a less than serious note, while I was on that same site, I found these, made for fork trucks. Am I the only one that thinks one of these hooked into the reverse circuit would be cool as all getout?

Fork Truck Safety/Warning Lighting Equipment

That in combination with some reverse sensors would be the shiznits, I think. The module sticking up on top between two Hellas would look kind a goofy, though. If it were all slim and whatnot... Not gonna lie, I seriously considered buying one. Honestly, that ground effect looks awesome to me.

Oh, and i haven't forgotten about the video updates I was doing. It's just that I have nothing to really show you guys at the moment. I feel those are more for showing the product than for me to hear myself talk.

Love that color mHoward.

You are correct, black interior was only an option for FX4 trim packages.

Black seat belt material should be easy to find cause it should be very common. But don't try and get it out of an fx4, just get new belts made.

I wonder if you could pull the light out of the housing and mount it in the long amber bar up front for your sequential signals. Apologize if that was your stated intent.

Yes, that backup light is cool. Do it!!!

I'm just going to rewire the existing lamps to illuminate sequentally, from the grille to fender.

I wonder if the mustang seat belts would work. Those came with black interiors.

Let's try dyeing the stock belts (RIT DyeMore for synthetic fabrics).  I believe that will actually hold up pretty good.

I'm willing to try that.

That said, I am concerned of it bleeding. Say it gets wet for any number of reasons.

@Eddie: That would be a nice alternative if the dye job doesn't work.  I'm sure that is pretty expensive.

If no other options remain, I'll get new ones made. But if I can get something of equal quality for ~$2, of course I'll go that route and put the saved money towards the donor.

That said, I went to a local auto paint shop and bought 4 more cans of SEM satin black interior dye. Several components have been prepped and painted, but several remain still. I'd say I've gotten.... Maybe close to 1/3 the parts done in an afternoon. Lots of little bitty small pieces!

I'll post all the photos at once, when all (or  vast majority) of components are painted and in the truck. I'm going to allow these parts to cure for some time. Like, a week, before re-installation to minimize any damage that may be incurred by re-installation handling.

I think the sequential turn signals would look cool, maybe you could put them in the bumper....?

I was thinking you could open the corner light assembly and put the sequential led in the housing... only a suggestion.

Well, I have the rest of the interior stripped and more parts painted.

I did find out that my father's 03 has black seatbelts, so it seems that I can rob (potentially) some black seatbelts from a newer grey interior Ranger. That's solved.

I tried the SEM on a visor (sacraficial one) and although it looks nice, the texture is awful.

Does anyone know of a source for black headliners or visors? Or an alternative method of changing it's color?

If you wanted to as a last resort, you could try to cover them in a black fabric. I've seen it on YouTube and it doesn't seem too difficult. Later today I'll see what color my seatbelts are, I think they're dark gray though

For what it is worth, I did take the center seat belt out. It is a lap belt and I have it hanging on the pegboad in the garage.

I believe all of the interior parts are painted, sans some dash parts and the two door panels. Need to do those this weekend.

Before I can put it all back together, I'm going to have the visors reupholstered and I'll probably do the headliner myself. That doesn't look too hard, and I see many people online have done it, so I believe I can as well. Gonna need something really thin, as not to change the dimension too much.

Visors can always be put back in later, if necessary.

Considering how infrequent the jumpseats get used, I'll SEM those. They've only been used twice in the 5 (?) years I've owned the truck, not counting my beagle, Crystal, who used to ride back there. Rest in peace, my friend. Once by my father, and once by my friends, when we piled in on our way to a Halloween party, as we would be on back roads of unknown and perhaps questionable terrain, which their cars would be not suitable for. (Escape and Prius, respectively). Glad we did, too! Either of 'em would have sank like a stone in the mud we wound up in. Heh, good times.

.....Anyway. Some may ask why I don't just delete them given their infrequent use. Good question. I like to be prepared, and that's one more tool in the box I already have. The above situation could happen again, and I have the 'dog board' which laid across them. Made for a nice place to set things that was still reachable from the driver's seat. That'll have to get color changed too. I also have a small sub that is made to fit in small cab trucks, which it fits nicely underneath said board and the board protects it from damage. Also offers some separation, like the tray in a small tool box.

If black belts for those are easily found, great. If not, ritdye. I'm taking a cheaper approach to the jump seats deliberately, again as they won't see much use therefor not much wear, compared to the front seats.

Still need to wire in a plug, for the roll bar's 3rd brake/cargo lighting. Now is the time when there's no interior in the way.
