So yesterday I became the proud owner of a 2001 Explorer Sport Trac. The lady I bought it off of parked 2 years ago in her driveway after it blowed a power steering hose. It has 121,000 on the clock super clean interior and a few minor dings on the outside. Bought for $675.

After a thorough inspection this morning I found a broken brake line bad power steering return line and a leaking transmission cooler.  Fixed all of that this afternoon. And bought a tailgate for it off a guy I work with for $20. Tomorrow I will replace the rear diff cover with an aluminum finned cover from a 2008 explorer with IRS swap out wheels and tires and a good cleaning. Maybe even install some HID lights.

Wow, that sounds like a good deal, was it in fair condition other than the faults you fixed?

Yeah it's nice shape. It does have a small spot of rust on the front fender and a crack in the front bumper cover. Needs a major cleaning and a set of wheels and tires. But other then that for an 01 its pretty nice

First thing I thought is when you sell the expo invest in a gallon of round up for that driveway, you are supposed to see the cracks and not have to mow them.

I do need a bumper cover and a right fender. The story I got on it from the lady I bought it from was the power steering hose blew apart. So she parked it. On her way to napa to get a new hose she stopped and bought a jeep liberty. This was 2 years ago when the hose blew out. She posted it on Facebook so I jumped. When I went to look at it there was a 97 ranger regular cab 4.0 5 speed 4x4 with a broken spring hanger in her yard and a super and I mean super clean 69 mercury cougar 351c 4 speed that has zero rust but the block is cracked. I asked about the ranger and the cougar just waiting on an answer. The best part is the ranger has 75,000 original miles her husband bought it new. Been sitting on a cement pad since 2010 with a broken hanger. And its Jim's favorite color. Money green.

Today while driving the sport trac I noticed the volt gauge was very low then a few more miles down the road it died. So time for a new alternator and battery. Leaving a car sit around is a bad thing to do

That's what I'm thinking? The volt gauge in my ranger and explorer both read in the middle the gauge in the sport track reads on the low side bout an 1/8" off of the L. I have a new alternator so I'm just going to throw it on and hope for the best. The battery has been sitting in unused for 2 years in it only being charged with a charger or jump starting. And I already have a brand new Optima battery

Replacing the leaking rear diff cover on the sport trac. It amazes me how something that hold oil will rust. Replacing the old one with a finned cover from an IRS explorer

Have you tried turning your phone sideways to take the pic? It will let you get so much closer and get a larger picture.

Then use the rotate button. On some browsers you have to refresh after hitting rotate the first time but it does work.
