Ideally you don't want to tie up your bed for anytime you want to put something large in it. Not everyone is the topper or even a tonneau cover type, and sometimes you wish you had storage area above the bed and still have use of the bed itself right?

Problem resolved..

Now for the outdoor active or those looking to cover all the bases a bed mountable rack that expands not only storage safely but allows you to still utilize the bed for most things; extra gear, coolers, tool bag or box, etc..

This rack can be outfitted with several brands of roof mountable/rack tents. trust me when I say NO woman will tell you NO, she doesn't wanna go camping with you when you roll up to pick her up with this setup. NO MORE sleeping on the ground or concerned with Gods creatures becoming an issue.

You can mount things to the top, sides, back or front in some cases both as well as the underside of the rack. Completely versatile and lightweight but strong. Endless combinations of selectable features from trail tools and lighting options to a South African dutch oven tie down that INCLUDES the dutch oven itself!

With use of the Transit bags (x-Large) available to compliment either Wolf pack storage solutions (see second pic below) or the standard large Transit bag for use with Cub Pack storage solutions. You can add room and solve storage issues when other items may not be in use or in combination with.

This kit creates a full size rack that sits above your Ford Ranger's (1998-2011) truck bed. This Slimline II cargo carrying rack kit contains the Slimline II tray (1475mm x 1358mm), 2 Tracks, and 4 Pick-Up Truck Bed Universal Legs that fit into the Tracks.
  • All Front Runner Rack Kits contain installation instructions as well as all the components needed to mount the Slimline II Tray to your vehicle.
  • All Front Runner Racks are backed by a Limited Lifetime Warranty*
  • Drilling may be required to mount the track to the bed of your truck.
- Consisting of:
2 x LASS026 - Universal Load Bed Leg 188mm (Pair)
1 x RRSTD07 - Slimline II Tray - 1255mm(W) X 1358mm(L)
1 x TRBU001 - Pick-Up Load Bed Tracks / 1000mm(L)

- Material used:Black epoxy powder-coated T6 aluminum 3CR12 Stainless Steel

- Approximate Installed Weight:

25kg (54lbs)

- Shipping Dimensions:

Width 450mm (18")
Length 1615mm (64")
Height 140mm (6")

- Shipping Weight:

Weight 28.7kg (63.1lbs)

-----------------------------------------------------

With dozens of rack mountable options or the addition/removal of additional slats for a multitude of near endless configurations.

The t-slots on the tops and bottoms of the rack tray slats and edge profiles accommodate standard 8mm bolts.

To determine the approximate height from your vehicle's roof to the top of your Slimline II Roof Rack, add the height of the Slimline II Tray (50mm/ 2") to the height of the Foot, Grab-on Foot or Strap-On Foot listed above.

If your Slimline II Roof Rack kit uses Legs, add the height of the Slimline II Tray (50mm/ 2") to the height of the Legs to determine the height of the rack from your vehicle's rain gutters.

If your Slimline II Roof Rack kit uses Foot Rails, add the height of the Slimline II Tray (50mm/ 2") to the height of the Foot Rails to determine the height of the rack from the crown (highest point) of the vehicles roof.

For more information and pricing on Rack or Rack accessories or if you have any questions regarding the product and its offerings. Please contact us or comment below...

There will be an amazing upcoming Project Build on a trailer made from a completely waterproofed and reworked 98' Ranger bed to work with a matching era Ford Ranger.

We will also be complimenting this rack system utilizing a Tent from Front Runner among several other options in anticipation for the Overlanding Expo West for 2019; including 52l of water storage, additional fuel storage/delivery, lockable bed storage, outfitted with solar panels, tool box, a PTO option, firewood platform, and an  additional base camp reserve capacity for power both in 12v/110ac fed by lead vehicle/solar/PTO.

The trailer will also be a platform for our rear multi-carrier bumper with dual swing outs; consisting of up to a 35" wheel/tire, Rotopax style Jerry cans, and our bed under storage.

We will also be incorporating our max-coupler from Kilby Enterprises in this build.

Built to handle trail adventures, the Max Coupler is designed to maintain the connection and remain completely quiet throughout its entire range of motion. This allows you to focus on the trail ahead and not be distracted by any clunking noises that leave you wondering if your trailer is still securely attached..

We think you'll be impressed with the results and ideas implemented...

I like the Rack but it would be more versatile if the side support bars were adjustable, and the side supports were set up as a slide, and a double bolt securing system.
Maybe the side supports could adjust from where it is now to the top of the cab area.

Also, an adapter for a Steppie Bed !

My biggest problem is the price of accessories of this nature, usually too much !

Totally understand... It can be difficult to provide value and express quality through an advertisement of sorts, so maybe I can expand on the product in question.

Foremost, Front runner Outfitters makes not only a great product that they stand behind as proven gear from all over the world actually, they offer a 30 day money back guarantee on all of their products, and their equipment is built to last, and last long enough that you'll actually need more weekends in your year.

You made mention of some valid suggestions and thoughts and i want to address those.

- The idea of a sliding rack, I am unclear as to if you would want that as a rack that pulled out from the tailgate end of the truck in a horizontal manner or if you were thinking in a vertical manner? That one we may need to come back to.

- The reason why the rack system is set at the height it is primarily is for the option of creating a bit less drag when loaded up, especially with a rack mounted tent or other items that may extend above the cab roof line. It makes the bed insides fully accessible for the user and maintains a slim profile or cross-section. Also although I wouldn't go out of my way to load a vehicle in such a manner personally, some of the same Front Runner racks are capable of holding 1500 lbs.

Strength in our racks

Now for something more relevant of an actual cab height. We can and do offer a rack that would fit on top of a Snugtop or other brand topper and we're already working on a smaller separate rack that will mount to the top of the cab on both extra and standard cab Ford Rangers. This way you would have a roof rack separate from the bed rack and they wouldn't fight each other being bridged across the two separate portions of the chassis's. And now you could have to equal height above the roof racks, which would make for a LOT of additional storage and gear capabilities.

- As far as the sides being more functional, Front Runner makes a huge leap forward from many other just "basket style" racks by offering an amazing amount of functional add-ons to the racks that make the sides and under the rack as functional as the top of the rack itself.

A small demo of how versatile the rack is.

As we prepare for our own site launch in a few short days, I can personally spend some time showing you things that may condense down your gear to the essentials and load you out in a better way with different options for your needs and wants. We spend a great deal of time building and upfitting Overlanding and Touring rigs. I can show you some things that may over time actually save you money.

- Bike carriers
- Kayak carriers
- Roof/rack mount tents
- Recovery boards carriers; Side mount and flat mount
- Rotopax Carriers
- Awnings and over 2 dozen brackets to competitor awning fitment
- Expandable Storage bags; Using Wolf or Cub crates
- Led lighting mounts for bars, pods, and other types
- Multiple tie down points
- Axe and shovel carry points
- LP Fuel tie downs
- Dutch oven tie down; Includes the dutch oven itself
- Single and dual Jerry can mounts
- Multiple types and sizes of water storage tie downs
- A plethora of misc items to personalize the usefulness of your vehicle even further.

We would like the opportunity to throw a few ideas at your build including possible idea of a "steppie" version of the rack as well as showing you all of the options we offer from Front Runner. It could be made a little bit smaller and very useful depending on your needs and wants but then that's where creativity comes into play.

IF you wouldn't mind, PM us some contact info and one of us would be glad to give you a call or email you more information.

And I don't want it to be a spoiler just yet but, we do have ways of financing larger purchases for your convenience if things like that help. I myself have found being teased by the instant gratification fairy's and when I really wanted a few certain things, I saved up for them instead.

Let us know what interests you

PS. - I notice you're in the Temecula area. I have several clients and friends running around down there with our work into their vehicles and lived there myself for a couple years. I know an expansive amount of people in that auto mall down there.

And, if you just happen to be a fan of slimmer options and the RotoPax brand of fuel and water storage. We've got you covered there too with our options for side and flat mounted racking  for RotoPax fuel cells.

Additional and adjustable mounting options are key to versatility and usefulness. Even if gear changes, you can adjust and compensate whether temporarily or longer term use with our ring terminals. OK, NICE is all that come to mind !

The $100,000 question, "Will it work with a Stepside Bed ?

I like the idea of your up-coming project, a Ranger Bed with the equipment already attached, hookup and go, I'm down with that.

I will have to check out the project and the overall costs.
Another option might be a Utility Trailer, outfitted as the Ranger Trailer, allowing for a Cooktop and other Camping necessities to be preinstalled and ready at a moments notice.

A good Preppers Trailer !

Let us know when the Ranger Bed Trailer starts, Thx !

Great questions..

I am in the process of vetting if this particular rack will actually fit 1993 to 2011, I believe the beds are all the same and it should fit.

Now unfortunately this particular kit does not fit the "stepside" model of the Ranger. However, if you read the 3 Installation links given in our product description and then look at the picture below, you'll see the underside assembly?

We could possibly custom make you and a new model kit to fit the Stepside with a slightly smaller, but same, a universal rack size available, as the load bars for the bed could still mount to the sides of the bed and as you can see. The legs slide into the adjustable slats allowing the ability to use a slightly smaller rack is a real possibly and the functionality should remain the same with exception to a slightly less overall surface area if that was something you would want to entertain for your personal racking needs?

So that is a most definitely a possibility and of course do let us know if you want to move forward for that..

And as for the "Ranger/Frontier Off-road trailer(s)" we're all about a preppers mindset here. I'd give up some design plans but I think we've done that slightly in another post already..

Sorry gentlemen and ladies.., NO full spoilers just yet but when we do go through with the build we will offer a professionally edited full walk around video showing all of the functions and thoughts that went into its design and use purposes. We think there may be more of a call for it as Off-road trailers are an expense many people are considering for a multitude of purposes/needs arrangements.

Oh... And BOTH very far from $100,000 btw

I can see where the Mounting Racks could be moved inward to fit a Stepside.

Are these Racks on your site ?
I looked and didn't see them; maybe a link, please !

Thanks, great product !

Thanks, great product !

I have 55 different slimline racks available with over 65 Accessories. I've only begun funneling some of the universal sized racks and some additional brackets and expedition rails into the site. My content manager swears shes logged me as having well over 9k hours into data entry alone.., but I'm getting faster, thats the good news!

What I would ask is to use the link to the Ford Ranger Bed Rack as a reference point. That Slimline II Tray is - 1255mm(W) x 1358mm(L) x 50mm(H) or 49.40"(w) x 53.46"(L) x 1.96"(H).

The Standard fleetside bed box size is is 54.00"(W) x 70.00"(L) and I already know you'll need the 188mm Legs to work with that box.

Measure the I.D. of your inner bed itself on your Flareside (Style side) and let me know what those measurements are, we will be able to match up a rack system that works best for that bed and try to maximize the surface area as much as possible for your bed rack needs.

If you would also like to see some additional rack accessories & storage solutions that will work with the rack system and/or the bed itself including some great organization features. Do check out those links too. From all types of items to maximize your storage and efficiency from water and dust proof to simple and budget conscious without sacrificing quality.

12o,

Thanks for taking the time to LINK the Rack System; I will check it out !
Added:  To be honest, the product looks great, a lot of ideas come to mind, along with the "Ranger Bed Trailer Idea"... like that one the most, but my only concern is the cost. The Rack is nice but pricey, then you get a load bar set up and the price goes up 50% or more, then , then... with the accessories this "Trailer" could run in the area to 3 to 4 K+$ very quickly. But in its defense, the overall price is far less than one of the Trailers that comes fully equipped with Tent, Grill, and other things.
I will have to setup a matrix, the Pieces I think I want and the prices and see where this goes in comparison with other racks.
Nice products, no way around that !
Thanks again for taking the time.

Totally understand your thoughts. Keep in mind the products we carry are specific to quality and the way the companies stand behind them foremost, offering their best in customer service and quality work and materials.

At this point too, we have only begun having a few clients who actually can or will pull the trigger on larger purchases such as a full rack setup done up to the nines, a front/rear bumper w/winch and/or full accessories, and we understand that for what we do that people buy things in methodical stages of importance to them or by their own agendas of interest. Our job is to respect that and help them make informed decisions on the gear they want to use.

We take a bit more of a personal approach here at 12° North Industries with many things with our customers based upon experience itself and sometimes the best ways to do something are in stages, and by that I mean in a way that makes sense for your needs and financially.

That being said. You can do what you want in pieces or sections and if you want, we're working on the ability to offer financing through PayPal because its trusted world over.

We understand what may seem expensive by many is based upon current thought processes and to what level matters to each individual. Keep in mind, all of us here are consumers of our own industry and many others equally. So it is a constant battle especially in today's market to get a customer to learn or understand how to differentiate between Cost vs. Value.

Cost is relatively easier to equate, its the cost of what it takes to construct something despite how short sited that may be at times. Value however, Value is something much more than just cost.  To assign value to a product you have to think not just in terms of first cost, but life cycle cost as well.

By taking a look at how we use specific items and getting rid of redundancy in our lives. A vehicle is the third largest investment you'll ever make, so why wouldn't you want to get the most for your money from it or the products you use on or with it?  Not just first cost, but overall maintenance and operation cost over time as well?

I have a small but perfect example.

Just using a bit of a personal note about myself here. I don't mind telling you or others how many years I went just using random totes in my setup from different stores and brands before I said enough was enough and just started buying the Alubox's like the ALU-Box 67 (x2) and ALU-Box 81 we carry.

I've had 3 of these boxes over the course of the last year and not all at once did I even purchase them, it took me almost a year and one I bought knowing I was re-purposing it for a design idea and it could be just trashed. Can I justify their cost now? Depends on the outlook taken. I averaged about 2-3 replacement totes at a cost of $9-14 every 4 or 5 months; out of the 7 I will normally carry as a full trail gear load.

Not to mention gas, wear & tear, to go 11 miles across town to the one store that has the ones I want with locking lids most times in stock. God forbid I get lunch at one of my favorite spots here in town on the way, (Ha, I'll be a negative $20 spot there alone).

The totes are the best cheap totes with locking lids I've found. For the many I've used; too soft, the heat does weird things to them and they don't last. Too hard they get cracked or chip when bumped against while offroad.

My Alu-Boxes.. water/dust proof.  They can take any method of securing down I can throw at them. Strapped, cinched, bungee corded, interlocked & stacked and strapped.. even mildly dropped. I can stand on them I can sit on them, I can stuff them tight and the sides don't distort or bulge and best of all, they'll last me 10 years or more if I just use them the same way I do the old totes; interior or exterior storage use wise.

Now I cant wait to update the rest of my gear totes to Alu-boxes here and there as I go. But they will last for years where my other ones barely last a few months.

EDIT: The Ranger Offroad Trailer will be an interesting and well documented project to follow. We actually have discussed a second one to do from a 1st Gen Frontier for a 1st Gen Xterra family guy here in one of the local offroading clubs in S. Nevada in similar fashion.

Just to keep thing straight, I found your product to be of high quality, and as you said they are selected fro purpose and longevity, not for low price, which you can get at any local chain department store.

Since you mentioned the Trailer Project, I've been thinking about it and this rack setup built in, but it will need to done as you said, in steps.

Thanks for info, for the quality product and the help you extend to other members of the site.

I will be around for a few more years and IF I get to the Trailer Project I will stop by your Store.
