What happened to gas cans? Have they became far left wing? Because of the combustible nature of gasoline they make cans so the gas don't come out fast enough to cause a serious fire? I just spent 26 minutes putting less than 15 gallons of gas in my truck, we get 30 gallons for free a month from Giant Eagle and  a dollar off a gallon on 35 more gallons from Kroger so I store gas. It almost isn't worth it because it takes so long to get it out of the can.

Used to you could tip the can, flick the little red cap at the back of the can and in about 45 seconds you could get 5 gallons of gas in your vehicle. I have looked on craigslist and e-bay for such cans and cannot find them.

Probably some federal regulation to keep stupid people from doing what they are going to do any way....be stupid. Why should I have to pay with my time because someone spilled gas on their leg being stupid and sued someone?

AAAAAARRRRRRRRGGGGGGGHHHHHH.

Ok I feel better thanks  :)

I purchased a new gas can from Lowes earlier this year & could not figure how to use the spout so when I need to add gas to my snow blower (only time I need the gas can) I just remove the spout & pour it in to the machine using a funnel.

I have an old style 5 gal gas can and a new style gas can. Every time I have tried to use the new style gas can I spill gas all over the place. It is useless. I can put the old spout on it and pour but it belches because it does not have an air relief. They can be purchased off Amazon.

The only real use I have for the new style gas can is to fill it up and put a cap on it and set it inside the bed of my truck between the bed wall and my work box. I have a siphon hose with a pump bulb so I can transfer the contents to my gas tank fairly easily but there is always some residual spill.

All my Jerry cans take a clip on spout that has a built in air pipe so you just fit the spout shove it in the filler pipe and invert the can - takes seconds to put in 4 gals ...

This type of spout -

https://m.ebay.com/itm/Wavian-Flexible-Jerry-Can-Spout-Nozzle-built-to-NATO-Style-European-Military-Spe-/273083967472?nav=SEARCH

You could replicate this by putting a small tube inside a plastic spout on the cheap gas cans ...

Just order NATO Jerry cans and call it a day.. not "NATO STYLED", authentic NATO cans.. they're about $68 on average but in comparison to the others, it sounds like the $18 is worth the lack of grief.

We have 4 nato cans I use them almost every day now that we are off grid.
Never leak, never spill, no nonsense these are the way to go! Of course they are pricey, but worth it if you transport fuel alot

We use rotopax for the ATV's they also do not spill and they are indestructible but they only hold 2.5 gallons each.

We also have a 14 gallon Flo n GO which is very handy for fueling up machines here at home

Years ago, probably around 2,000 I bought an old style metal 5 gallon can that had 2 screw on caps,1 had a rubber hose attached and it shortly broke off so I had to start using a funnel. I also bought a plastic 2 1/2 gallon can that has a spout on 1 side and a small screw off vent cap on the other. I finally got tired of the metal can since I had to use a funnel and bought a 5 gallon plastic can that doesn't have a vent. I agree, they suck. I still have the 2 1/2 gallon can with the vent though and use it a lot. Too bad they don't make 5 gallon cans that way. These new cans with the automatic shut off are a royal pain to get to work for me.

Going through some of my sources and many of them ALL have this same fucked up moniker posted on their site somewhere conspicuous...

These are the same quality of jerry cans previously sold, now with the new EPA/CARB Nozzles.

The EPA now requires these jerry cans to be sold with a EPA/CARB nozzle.

Jerry cans not sold without the EPA/CARB nozzle to meet the EPA requirements for legal sale in the USA.

jerry can replacement nozzles and jerry can accessories can be purchased separately.

I swear to god the EPA Agents need to be arrested, tried for treasonous acts against the people and when/if found guilty, hung one by for all to see on national TV, and go through every Alphabet agency exactly the same. NO FLY list the bastards and keep them from leaving the state, country...

No, anyone employed by the EPA should have to use their gas cans only and be banned from getting gas directly from a pump.

The more I read about this the more similar articles I see to our thread here at F-R.

These cans are difficult to use at all and most people who use them frequently spill gas from them. I will not use my low cost gas in my wife's 2017 CRV for fear of spilling gas on it.

Hmmmm seems to be a nation wide problem. Though it is a small one by comparison perhaps there is something we can do about it. The EPA is easier to deal with under Trump there has to be something we can do or a group we can join or a letter we can sign and send in.

I just want to put it out there.. i know, I know.. But if they [gov/bureaucrats] are doing this to products like this and other things, imagine what they're doing to things we don't know about or pay attention to.. it happens trust me.

I tried the vent cap on a 10 liter plastic can. It leaked and I tossed it after 3 or 4 failed sealant attempts.

What we need to do is put a petition together to Rick Perry to resend these EPA rules.

Tsquare, I did the same thing, modified a plastic can. I think the pebble surface of the can would not allow a seal to form so I removed the breather and used Permatex gasket former and a gas resistant gasket to seal the mating surfaces and it stopped leaking. Sadly enough, the breather cap I used is not gas resistant and has since turned into jelly and no longer works.
