 Another day in the books.  Today I covered 403 miles.  Almost exclusively in 75+ mph speed zones and a ton of wind.  Truck still managed 18.15 mpgs

I checked out Deadwood, mount Rushmore, the black hills forest, and the bad lands before I hit the god awful plains of South Dakota and hundreds of miles of nothing.  Tomorrow is a pretty crappy drive too.  Im going to check out a few small sites in chamberlain, SD.  Hit up the corn palace, and then beat feat to my next stop.

First stop.  The border


Then I hit up deadwood, wandered main street, checked out the adams museum and the local cemetery.

If you have the time, for shits and giggles, drop your speed on a tank somewhere on this trip down to 65 and see what the gas mileage is. Preferably in an area that is fairly flat.

My first tank was 60-65.

Terrain and wind have had much more of an effect than speed.

I did almost 20mpgs doing 75

Its hard granite.  Pure erosion?  I think they'd outlast humans.  But they suffer from cracks.  If not often repaired they'd fall apart

 I have almost no pictures and even less to say.  Today was super boring.  South Dakota Sucks.  The scenery is trash, the weather was trash and I am glad to be out of that state.  I honestly got the worst tank of fuel mileage wise, that my ranger has ever got.  And Ive put almost 15k on the truck since I bought it. 
My first tank of the day was 14.55 mpg.  This was the same highway speeds, same everything as every other tank too, only difference was the 25mph head wind the whole tank.  My second tank was better at 17.1.  I am in minnesota for the night and headed out to chicago tomorrow morning.

 Today was another super uneventful day.  I am sorry to those of you live here, but I am unimpressed with the midwest.  DRivers in wisconsin are f-ing terrible.  
Almost no pictures today either.  It rained something fierce most of my drive.  Tomorrow should be chock full of images though, as I am taking a detour and heading to the Henry Ford Museum in Dearborn.

I covered just under 350 miles today and due to the weather I got 15.4mpg's

I stopped off at the mall in rochester minn to get some apparel...


then it was off to Illinios(as an avid vikings fan, I don't recognize the existence of Wisconsin when I don't have to.  I only stopped there long enough to poop)


And my view for most of the drive



I will say, the awful condition of vehicles around here really makes me appreciate the complete lack of rust we get on the west coast.

 I haven't been to the henry ford museum since I was a teen. 94 all the way across :) Wait till you see the condition of cars in Michigan.

On your way southeast you were going to the football place, stop in Sandusky first and ride the demon drop :)

That would have been great.  It was a little weird wandering around by myself.
I am in cleveland for the night.  I am headed to Canton in the morning, then on to DC.
The museum was awesome, I will post up pictures in a bit.  I need to get some dinner.  
Trucks doing ok, no issues.  Got 17.4 mpgs today.  Over the course of my 2700 mile its doing 17.47

No.  A) I didnt get to cleveland until 6 ish tonight due to the drive from illinios and going to the ford museum.  B) I really am not a music person.  I listen to it, and thats about it.  C) I am going to the pro football hall of fame instead.

 Hey Dustin,

I found out from one of the more knowledgable members, that there is a way to stop the A/C Compressor from running when you don't want it to.

There is a Purple Wire behind the HVAC Panel, you need to cut the wire and install a SPST Switch.

I was told that it is an easy fix and worth while if looking for better MPGs !

I am going to attempt it on my 2003 Ranger soon and will post ups a How-To, but until I actually verify the info, I don't want to post more than here !
