Electric cars don't make sense unless the power comes from nuclear power sources. My other main gripe with electric cars is their sources for materials for the batteries. Child slave labor in china and the congo doesn't sit right with me.

I'm in arizona, and even our most recent primaries was a shitshow. Not enough republican ballots, machine issues, counting issues. I'm embarrased, and the worst part is, the person who is in charge of it is running as a dem for governor. Like, her track record is terrible, and yet she thinks she can win simply because she's (d)ifferent.

I started it at a specific point for a reason, the few extra minutes are entertaining but the bulk of my point is what he brings up, and NO one is talking about.  We have a RAV4 Hybrid AWD with a 14.5gal tank and if I drive it rather conservatively as per usual when in it, I'm averaging about 40-43 MPGe.  Which is whats keeping me from lifting it 2" and stuffing a set of 245/65/17's under it and adding a bunch of gear on it, even to show off what can be done to one.

My question is in comparison to oil, which is used in everything from plastics, clothing to medication believe it or not. How much Lithium is on this planet?

Apparently we have 165 million tons of the stuff - about 150 years worth at current production rates. Lithium is also used in glass, greases and medication. Chile & Australia have the most - China is a minor player.

They are using machines power by either gasoline or diesel to mine the products that make the batteries, the electricity that powers them come from power plants that are mostly powered by coal or gas, then what do you do with the old batteries from the hybrids, they go into landfills. How is that better the gasoline powered vehicles?

What's this picture?

This is what I was expecting to happen with cars. since you know... it makes sense and can use existing infrastructure.

I think $omething happened to pu$h to batterie$. Not $ure what.

I think batteries are just simple to use - the electricity grid is there for slow charging and the fast charging points are appearing in petrol stations and supermarkets. Hydrogen is a whole new ballpark - the development of viable fuel cells and tanks plus the conversion of petrol stations to carry liquid hydrogen and dispense it has all yet to come. Plus the production facilities - it would make sense for offshore wind farms to produce the gas by electrolisis and pipe it ashore for liquifaction. Maybe NASA has a few issues to solve with loading liquid hydrogen!

I think it is funny that Hydrogen has a bad rep right out of the gate, our first electrolysis experiment in 8th grade proved it as a viable, easy to make, and highly flammable source of energy.

It was that darn Hindenburg thing that wrecked it for everyone. An early engineering snafu that formed a point of view for most of the world.

It should be a poll like was there ever a cornucopia in the fruit of the loom logo or does Pikachu have a black region at the end of his tail. "When you hear the word hydrogen, what is the first thing you think of?" I'm sure most humans over 45 would say Hindenburg.

Lol - really?  People Google everything these days and if you Google hydrogen the first thing you see is a lot about it being the clean fuel for the future.

During the second world war the Hindenberg disaster didn't stop people strapping big baloons to the top of their cars filled with town gas!

And LPG gas conversions have been around for some time - I don't see why there should be any resistance to liquid hydrogen powered cars. Especially if hydrogen fuel cells are not needed with internal combustion engines running directly on the gas. Why do people have to complicate things?

Don't get me going about Google. It will return the results the mainstream wants you to focus on.

Things are not simple any more, the curtain has been pulled back to reveal the wizzard.

Perhaps you see me as crazy, most of my personal conspiracy theories have manifested so I see me as a dissent that has a batting record of being correct over and over.

AND there is no reason why I can't be both!

I don't disagree with Hydrogen and its efficiency/abundance/cleanliness. I disagree with having things shoved down my throat that just might not be true.

i think you miss the point - true or not, google is where people go for info and that is what influences people's beliefs - just as the government or the church seeks to influence belief!

Come to that, how do you know that the Hindenberg crashed and burnt due to the gas- or even if it was filled with hydrogen - can you trust any reporting?

And you miss the point of church. I don't go to church to learn to believe as I do, I go to church because I believe as I do.

My favorite thing is how "Conspiracy theorist" is now tossed around
Anytime you think outside the box they put this tag on you and you are now lumped in with crazy folk (ALEX JONES AND INFOWARS)....... for having free thought. I am no infowarrior Alex Jones lost his damn mind about 15 years ago when his wife left his cheating ass and he started pushing steroids....

It is just crazy!! I love this discussion keep it up!! WE ARE FREE THINKERS
My grandpa told me long log ago "don't believe everything you see on TV"
I have changed it for my son, "Don't believe ANYTHING you see on the screen"

I have an idea that goes against the norm, like I think we should use clean Nuclear power for the grid and de salinate sea water to get fresh drinking water for the west coast
We should look at places like Brazil where they have switched from gasoline to ethenol made from sugarcane in a very short time meeting the demands of the people for cheaper fuel!!

CONSPIRACY THEORIST!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! how dare you not jump into an electric vehicle and shorten your commute!! How dare you go off grid!!
It must be a conspiracy against the union!!!!!!!!!
I dont like Biden, I think Michelle Obama is a man!!!
See if I say that then I will be labeled a conspiracy theorist and thus I must have an INFOWARS sticker on my car and at any moment a family member will turn me in for a red flag law violation... I should be getting sued right alongside Alex Jones for my free thinking!!

911 was an inside job (CONSPIRACY)
There are "false flag events" being staged by our government to get you to fall in line (conspiracy!!)

and Last I checked
PRIDE IS A SIN

/rant

A quote from Wayne Dupree reporting about the 2 electric cars in an Atlanta whole foods parking lot parked side by side catching fire:

" Imagine being a liberal and going into the grocery store to buy your soy and alfalfa sprouts and you come out to see your car and the one next to you is on fire. I'm sure all that smoke is great for the environment."
