Ford is introducing their new Bronco on July 9, OJ Simpson's birthday.
https://www.cbs17.com/news/check-this-out/ford-coincidentally-bringing-back-the-bronco-on-o-j-simpsons-birthday/

Somebody has a very twisted sense of humor. It is appropriate in this day and age. If I owned  a Ford dealership near where OJ lived I would get a TV add of him "inspecting" a new Bronco, it would also be white.

cray cray Ford, on OJ birthday....seriously!
I am looking forward to seeing the big Bronco in person, they do look nice.
My dad just bought a Jeep gladiator overland, he could not wait another few months as his old ride needed to be replaced. Was hoping to see him in a Bronco since they have a Stang and a Sploder already..
Ford was tooooo slow this time

They should offer an extra large red glove at all the dealerships. If you are indecisive, try it on. If the glove fits, you must buy it.

Except for our taste for Ford Vehicles !    I almost purchased a Gladiator Overland too, great ride, nice size, backseat... not my style but it would come in handy with the Grandkids, BUT as always with me, they wanted way too much !

I'm both looking forward to this release and hoping not to be disappointed again, as with the Ranger !

Added:  Has anyone actually seen the new Bronco ?

I've seen a number of iterations of what it will look like but nothing that said, " Here It Is" !
Also, drive train, axles, things that matter !
Are we talking a 5.0L, six speed auto, Atlas Transfer Case, Solid Axles; you know something like a Jeep  ?

Here's a couple supposed “leaked” pictures of the Bronco

And the front end looks like that jeep renegade just with the Ford logo

I have test drove the Gladiator Rubicon. Leather seats in a Jeep are a bit over the top. It was a test vehicle on a closed off-road course that was easily handled by the Rubicon. The on road test was a Sport S with all the options.  It was impressive but it needs more power to only get 15mpg. If Jeep offered the turbo 4 that is in the Wrangler I would be more interested.  Decked out with what I would like on it puts it in the middle $40's for a Sport S, add $4k for Overland which is desirable just for the different wheel and color choices.

If I was buying new, the incentives for the F-250 have it priced below F-150 pricing. A F-250 XLT extended cab with the 7.3L, and electronic lock rear for a F-150 XLT 5.0 and electronic lock rear price would have me looking very hard.

What looks really good is my 04 XLT Ranger that is paid off and it has had the standard "fixes" for my model with it's mileage.

I was hoping for a 2-door also, 4-doors do have any a place for one.

Wondering what the drivetrain is going to be like, thinking solid axles on both ends,  and what will the mpg be, hoping for about 30 mpg ?

Probably never going to buy another new Ford, I will keep my '03 Ranger going for as long as possible.

Then there is always a 1988 Bronco II !

+1 on a 2-door. I rarely have a passenger and when I do it is usually just one person.

My guess the drive train would be the same as the new Ranger.

2019 RWD Ranger 1/4 mile by Car and Driver had it at 14.6 sec @ 96 mph. The 2020 RWD was listed at 14.7 sec but did not list speed.

For a Wranglerish Bronco with the same drivetrain add up to a second and drop up to 10mph.

It will be interesting to see what they do when the warranty runs out.

Rumor has it coming with a 2.7l ecoboost engine.  Should come with the 10spd auto and a 7spd manual that has a super low crawler gear.  Based on the Ranger platform.  2 door version is also rumored.  They say Ford showed the 2 door at a dealer conference.  Top might be removable also.  Latest rumor has them maybe making a pick-up version.  Makes a little sense, as this is aimed squarely at the Wrangler.  We saw a couple 4 door ones in camo driving through Denver about a month ago.

All interesting info BUTT no one really knows for sure !

The engine, 2.7L ECO Boost, four cylinders with Turbos, man..., what is needed is a rugged 4x, with a V-8 and modifiable suspension that will handle HD Off Roading, AND I do not believe Ford will deliver on any of those things !

Ford doesn't take anyone opinions for styling or size of vehicle or power from anyone butt themselves.

The four door is too big be any good off roading, the suspension will be another story but the general public will probably think it is goo to go !

I'm waiting to see but not hold my breathe, because Ford has disappointed us/me so many times, I don't expect anything Off-Road worthy to come out of their plants.

AND of course the pricing of this thing will probably be WAY over where it should be.

Where we go from here will depend on so many things...  Ford WILL screw us again if and when possible.

If the picture posted are correct, why do we need another SUV, too big and under powered to do anything but be a grocery getting for Soccer Mom's.

Do I sound a little negative, sorry to those that think this is a good thing that Ford has done for us, AND I am hoping the styling and power is up to the task.

Ltr,

I passed an off road speed shop about an hour ago. On their electronic billboard they are advertising up to 540 HP in the new Rangers.

Styling, can't really get into it, who knows what it will look like?  And that is so subjective anyway.

Personally I don't mind a small turbo'd motor.  They won't do the V8, and I am not sure that the weight is worth it.

Modifiable suspension?  Eventually aftermarket companies will make stuff for it.  Depends on how well it sells.  I am expecting it to be pricey.  Stock it should be fairly off road capable.

I won't be buying one.  But people will...

Ford is releasing two Broncos, the full size seen here and a "Sport" which is like meh...looks like an escape on steroids.
There is NO MARKET for a 3 door Bronco.... 3 door Ford never sell well, the Bronco II, the Explorer Sport, the full size bronco.... I would be really surprised if they offer a 3 door version......If they do I would think it would be more like an FJ or Ranger with two smaller suicide style doors...so still a 5 door body.

Anyone who thinks the Bronco looks like a Jeep needs to remember Ford built some of the first Jeeps! Same time as Willys and way before AMC or Chrysler had any say in the design.
The early bronco also had the classic round headlight look back in 1966, all land cruisers, scouts, and Jeeps came AFTER the Ford "Jeep" grill design

"The familiar pressed-metal Jeep grille was a Ford design feature and incorporated in the final design by the Army."
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jeep#:~:text=American%20Bantam%2C%20the%20creators%20of,duty%20trailers%20for%20the%20Army.

Just as an FYI: The Ford Jeeps built for the military had 9 vertical grill holes. The Willis Jeep had only 7. For the collectors and restorers they will pay stupid money for the Fords.

If that indeed is what the new Bronco will look like it is not doing it for me, plus it looks silly as a 4 door, too long. I would like a 2 door also but I do not think you will ever see one since the car manufacturers cater to buyers who want 4 doors. Oh well we will keep our 99 Explorer 2 door especially since it is paid for & has a new trans.

June 25 the new F-150 will be introduced. That was news to me. Was anyone else aware of new skin for the F-150?

They have been road testing the 2-door.  Like I said, it is aimed straight at the Wrangler, so I think you can plan on a 2-door.  The video I posted has the 2-door in it.  The site Bronco Nation is run by Fords PR firm for this product.  But we will have to wait and see to be sure.  Until July 13th.  They moved the date.

https://www.caranddriver.com/news/a32918096/ford-bronco-reveal-date-change-july-13/

Like they didn't know what they were doing.  This way, they got a bunch of free publicity, but by changing it they get to appear concerned as well.  There is some smart people behind this PR.
