I had a friend that would borrow my tools and not bring them back for three or four days.
I started telling him he needs to return them the same day, he got defensive, I then told him to use my tools you need need to do the work at my garage... he didn't borrow my tools anymore, funny... wonder why ?

But my Dad never had those tools but my always said, "There's a BIG elastic on that tool, when you are done is come right back", I learned, now it my turn !

The Motor Thing, a motor is run by electricity right ! LoL !

well a motor turns electricity into force but yes "it runs on juice!"
turn it around it turns force into energy (generator)
An engine uses combustion for energy to turn into force

Department of MOTOR vehicles.......motor vehicle registration.......it goes on and on

trust me I get it......but its not a motor its an engine it has been drilled into my head
so now if I'm gonna coach people on these trucks here on this site then I'm gonna do my coaching :)
so its gonna be drilled into your heads too!

Over the pond there your language is all screwy, elevator is a lift, bathroom is a lou, gasoline is petrol, motor coach, motor car......windscreen, fish n chips
Anyone else have any good examples :)

OK - I will drill back - be precise, it is an internal combustion engine, not a siege engine or a jet engine or any other kind of engine - it is an INTERNAL COMBUSTION ENGINE - got it?

and no a bathroom is a bathroom - a loo is a toilet which may or may not be in a bathroom

Like I could take this matter to court and not pay taxes or fees or register my vehicle because it does not have a motor in it.
Its been proven in court more then once.
I choose to not go against the system and fight the meanings of the language to that extent....but sure you can get precise, I get it

Funny you should ask, he has consulted on the "space elevator concept" a time or two, not sure if with nasa

Basically concluded that the space elevator concept is a good concept but cannot be built. Forget any problems that arise from having a tether going from the ocean surface into orbit like wind storms, air traffic, etc we simply do not have material strong enough to build such a tether and hold together. Alot like elevator ropes.....did you know with modern elevator technology we have reached the limit? All modern long travel passenger elevators use cables and car/counterweight...well we cannot go much further because the cables themselves get so long the cables cannot even support themselves! This is where nano fibers, synthetic ropes, the use of rubber belts, come into play........until we can get rid of the counterweight (Not gonna happen anytime soon) we have reached the max travel. So these supertall buildings (Taipei 101, Burj Khalifa< Kingdom Tower) actually have two sometimes three elevators you have to take to go from the ground floor to the top.......

A platform suspended in orbit around the earth on a tether leading to a large ship at sea, used to transport goods/satellites into space...... the idea has been tossed around in science rags since I was a kid

Smart man! We were curious one day as to how many stupid engines I have around here that constantly need maintenance.... 25+!! I was like lord help me
That number has got to be higher now as we have a new propane generator that came with the house, with the bulldozer (4 cylinder case diesel) and the Excavator (3 cyl yanmar turbo diesel) I can count 3 more new ones right there!

So, like Chris, I started downsizing also!
I now have weed whackers, chain saws and hedge trimmers that are ELECTRIC MOTOR POWERED instead of internal combustion engines!!
I do need to sell some of the old chainsaws, these little 40V Dewalt saws kick some ass

no! Not yet. We have 4 of those things, two of the 20V and two of the 40V
Now you are saying "why the hell would anyone need 4 hedge trimmers".....well

this 23 acres is river valley and the scrub oak (Red alder actually) here grows so damn thick. The girls can easily run the trimmers and the small chainsaws, So I keep them busy with hedge trimmers. We literally use them to keep our trails open and wide enough to go down without getting nettled (lots of nettles here too)
The extended hedge trimmer would be so nice! Same tool but with a long pole......... please send $$$$$$$$$$$

Our 2 mile "road" has 6' tall grass on both sides all summer and fall, I will literally have somebody drive while I hang out the window with a hedge trimmer running and hack away at the weeds for the whole drive....keeps the road nice and wide and open and my arms sore as shi*

The only engine I ever threw out that I regretted was a Mexican 302 block, build in the same molds as the 289HP HD Crank webbing, more material around the cylinders; it was the go-to when supercharging a 302.
That was about six years ago now but new things are out there.

never had more than three motors... ENGINES at one time.

Lol - I am surprised you haven't rigged up a beam across the bed of the ranger to carry a trimmer each side!

I have an Qualcast YT4353-02 2 kw chainsaw (corded, not battery powered) and that certainly whizzes through the timber, self sharpens too! My son has a petrol powered chainsaw and I much prefer the electric one.

The pole idea has come across my mind more then once I can even point one trimmer upwards and one down....make one pass down the road and one back up...... keep it trimmed like a perfect square box through the woods!

Built in Stones with a auto pressure system and IMHO... it is a way to wear out blades faster, i.e. buy more blades !

My first gas Chain Saw had a sharpener built in but not auto, you had to push on a large button, it also had a dept adjustment so you could keep sharpening as the blade wore out !

See the red lever above the word Qualcast?

Pull that back for 3 secs and it moves a curved sharpening stone against the teeth of the chain.

Here you go - this is the stone that sharpens the teeth as the chain goes over the drive pulley.

The big red knob locks the blade and the outer black knob moves the blade forward to tension the chain, so no tools needed to keep the chain properly tensioned.

Then to me, an ignorant peasant, I would say it isn't an AUTO Sharpener !

It is a "Built-In Sharpener", as my very old and not forgotten, McCulloch Chain Saw was... Put finger on Button, Press Button... that definitely sound manual to me. LoL !
