Jim, the governors are doing the only thing they can to stop the spread of the virus. The virus spreads much faster and easier than anything we are used too. Many, many people have built up a resistance to the flu over the years, and there are vaccines for it. There is nothing for this one.
The govs. are acting only because for the first 2 months the administration poo-poo'd the idea that this was a serious health problem. And no matter what our fearless leader says, the govt is not and has not done enough to safeguard the public. Basically each governor has become the "President" of his/her state, because our fearless leader called the virus a hoax that was spread by the democrats and the news media. They are doing what they feel is the best course of action to protect the public.
By eliminating groups, sporting gatherings, closing schools and collages, they are basically "self quarantining" people. My wife is an RN, and the hospital has no available beds due to normal patient admissions. If the virus were to hit here there are NO beds available. Same goes for hospitals in the general area.
Yes, it will definitely hit hard as far as workers/pay/. But if allowed to continue, those workers may get very sick, or worse.
I was around in the 50's and 60's when common stuff like measles, mumps, flu, would run through the population like fire, as there were no vaccines. Now they are treatable, but this is a new virus, and could mutate into something far worse.
Wife and I are both in our 70's, and although in good health, are a bit concerned. Not scared or worried or in a panic, just concerned. We have already cancelled two up-coming RV trips we had planned for April and May, but to us it's just a minor inconvenience when placed next to the hardships of many others.
So, yeah, if it means I can't go on a camping trip, or to a NASCAR race, of a movie theater, so be it.

Love ya man but I do disagree that it is as big as is being broadcast. Like I said if I am wrong I will admit it. I'm 6 months shy of 60 but can't forget the fuel crisis and how it was fake, everyone bought it. I'm not saying the virus is fake of course it is real and it is dangerous. But it isn't water turning to blood, frogs, lice, flies, livestock pestilence, boils, hail, locusts, darkness and the killing of firstborn children. I truly believe it is being blown way out of proportion and almost half of the united states citizens are puppets being dangled by the strings of the TV stations. I stopped watching the news about 18 years ago when I figured this out.
