Looks like Logan3cpo is still actively moderating the FRF place.
Should we invite him?

Really? mods there? It was a good site, but lack of control "lowly mods" can't help those problems.

Would be good to have more people here where it seems we're all active.

Yes, and for three reasons that head the list:

a) he's pretty sharp, including tech, as demonstrated by both words and actions.

b) he's the last even keeled, level headed mod over there that actually was doing the right thing.

c) he's able to comprehend what subject a forum is about and why people come there in the first place, and he responds accordingly. Said another way, he doesn't ramble for hours about vehicles other than what the forum is actually supposed to be about.

My vote is to invite him. I'm sure he would be an asset here, just like he has been over there.

So if he is moderating, is the site still a phishing warning site? I had a reply to one of my posts there and still came up a phishing site.

Me too. If someone is moderating the site, wonder what their waiting for to correct it? Nothing against the new site, but I have years of info on the old one and hoping someone will correct it's problems.

Moderators only have the control alloted to them by admins. They might be able to edit or move posts, maybe even ban people but they usually don't have access to the files on the server that create the site.

Admins sometimes can't access server files, some of these bulletin board places will either host you or load the board on an account you buy at godaddy or host gator or if they are really cool Data 1 Systems  :)

So logan probably has his hands tied on fixing the actual problem.

Well, I was invited and here I am. Apparently FRF went to crap while I was busy living my life? I've got a few questions:

1) Why was FRF being reported as a deceptive site by my malware/fishing site filter? The only problem I knew of was that the site was http which would expose the username/password to anyone with a packet sniffer.

2) What were the issues with FRF otherwise? It seems there must be a fairly serious impetus to drive long-standing FRF forum members to create an all new forum.

Anyways, this forums uses https which is a good start...

Thank you for recognizing the advantages of HTTPS, it was designed like that out of the box for now and the future. We also filter non https outside image links and convert them to the https equivalent if one exists. We discourage outside picture linking and provide an unlimited access user gallery for the same reasons.

Anyhow I loved FRF but the main problem boils down to the administrators (Tom) evidently don't care to fix hosting or tech issues.

The security issue over there isn't that "heavy", looks like one of the advertisers in the google ads had a random redirect to a site called filestore72 (if I remember correctly, I was redirected there several times a week). It could be worse, a hacking and random code inserted in one of the templates but not being able to take a look I have to assume innocence.

No worries here at F-R, We own the server and the hosting company and understand security as well as forums since we host mostly forums. Will anything bad ever happen? I can't 100% guarantee it but if anything ever does we will hop right on it and fix it.

So relax, post and enjoy :)

Well if not Logan than perhaps it's time to get in touch with DBL.

*Edit: FWIW, given what's been seen as of late, it's been questioned as to whether he's even the person posting in his account.......
