I thought the same thing but when I looked at the pricing... WAY TO HIGH, and you can only get the 4 cyl-Turbo.

Ford is screwing the US on Diesels !

I drove the one I posted I was really impressed with it. Ford says 270 hp but if feels more like 300hp. If I get this truck with trading mine in company discount and dealer knock off I'd be looking right about 36-38. Which isnt bad considering the truck is loaded

good point about the Tacoma, already proven platform for similar price

I was pissed at Ford for the new Ranger Design, went to Toyota and looked around.
There was a 4 Runner, TRD Pro, with almost even option I would want...  $48,500 on the Web, still could come down some when we start negotiating !

The Tacomas, TDR Off-Road, with a lot of options, came in at $43K, walking price around the 39K mark.   Drove it and like it but I think I'm looking at the 4 Runner, just like the look in Cement Gray.  No BRIGHT Red, funny !

Even the F150 is in the same neighborhood for $$$ but less options !

BUT we are talking $40K here... for a small vehicle, WTF is going on with the world today with the pricing thing, funny thing is they ARE selling !

I think I am going to stick with the '03 Ranger for a while, the old girl is16 years old and still in decent running shape !

Speak of the devil
https://www.cnet.com/roadshow/news/2019-ford-ranger-recall-shifter-interlock/

My wifes 07 FJ cruiser we bought new and it now has 212K on it, not one single issue....... only thing was we disliked the ABS brakes so I removed it (later there was a reflash from Yota to fix the issue) and the front CAD 4wd actuator would not work sometimes, so I soldered it. Otherwise flawless truck even with the abuse we put it through
Toyota FJ cruiser holding its value better then any other vehicle sold in 2007

I like the new Ranger but I am a super informed consumer and I am careful where I put my $$$$$
I know these trucks are pushing $40K now its shocking, but at the same time I paid $23K for a 6 seat UTV :)

My mom has a 2019 Sport Platinum eco boost sploder and comparing that SUV to a gen II explorer is like....laughable hahahaha

Nice ride. The 4 door would be nice, and all the   on a new one. But I am way too cheap to get another payment. Told myself no more for a while after I paid off the bike. Attempting to make myself debt free.

Really about the only thing that's completely new on it is the 10 speed automatic transmission. Still trying to wrap my fingers around that.  I see the trans being problematic.

exactly new 10 speed and built in a different plant then the previous version

I agree with all of you guys, especially about being careful with your $$$$$.
We have been working towards no debt for a few years now and have eliminated all payments even our mortgage. This affords me/us the luxury of being able to buy toys....one at a time. Our Polaris 6 seater we use to commute two families in and out of here all winter long and I qualified for 2.99% loan on this sucker (my 4th polaris loan). I still drive a 1988 BII and a 97 F350 so I can make all of this happen. It is good to be your own mechanic, very good. Parts are cheap, labor is expensive

The only debt we have is my wife's motorcycle. I could not begin to think of how much money I saved us by fixing our trucks, I am sure that has allowed us to have our toys, & hopefully my 69 Mustang will be running this year.

If I had a job where you work, I'd wait for a wrecked one and a wrecked f150 with the 3.5 eco boost and build the FX4 and skip the financing.

The 3.5 EcoBoost is an impressive engine. My dad has one in his f150. That engine in a light platform like a ranger would be insane

So you did you decide to pass on it?  There will be others if you did.

So while my truck is being repaired from being rear ended, they rented me a 2019 Nissan Frontier.  I didn't care, just wanted to be able to get to work.  It's a nice truck, the crew cab is nice.  Still don't want a payment...

That ten speed is in a lot of rigs already.

I don't understand why nobody can design a decent CVT. Mini bikes, go karts and snowmobiles have used them for years. Had the honda version in a '14 civic, was great for power but sucked the fuel mileage right out of it.

What do you want out of your CVT?  I get that your experience in that vehicle was that the mileage was lacking.  I can't remember the car, but I drove a CVT.  Worked fine.  The story I heard was that Americans in general were unaccepting of the technology as they wanted to be able to 'feel the shifts' so CVT's never sold well.  It is purely anecdotal, just something i remember hearing at the time.

If you were able to make both rangers you have really nice an flip them for a tidy sum. Seen them do it on TV a lot. Lol. That might help stomach the price of being the first owner and value depreciation after driving off the lot.

I like the direction you are headed(ers). Make the trucks you have really sweat for a lot less. 4.0L could be fun, especially with your access.
