With the release of at least 3 electric powered trucks planned within a couple years, we need to remember something. First the electric F-150 that retained its stock look 100%:

The Rivian R1T which there have been working prototypes on the road for a couple years now:

Late to the game but a big Lordstown Ohio project by GM that we FINALLY have a picture and the name of... the Endurance:

What we need to remember is that back in 1998 it had already been done, and has become somewhat of a collectors item.

The Ford Ranger :)

Although I'm not a fan of electric vehicles, I wouldn't mind owning an electric Ranger.

EDIT: Out of the three "current" electrics you have shown, the F150 is the only one I would even remotely consider owning/driving.  The others just look stoopid.

Rant:
So lets take fuel from the earth, refine it, burn it to create electricity, pipe the electricity to your new home charging station ($$$$$$) and use it to charge up your batteries, then run the vehicle on those!
(fuel/ refine / convert to electricity / pipe electricity / use to charge batteries / run vehicle on battery charge until depleted / repeat)
Q: How much additional money does it cost to charge a vehicle on the house power bill? How much to have 240 volt charge station added to house
A: ALOT $$$$ power, labor, wiring in charger is expensive!! You are putting more things on the GRID!! In California??? What a great idea

Q: Does the cost of power for your home go up or down every year?
A: UP

Q: How far can you go between charging?
A: 200-400 miles

Q: With the AC on? Stereo, wipers, headlights? Range is reduced BIG TIME with accessories running
A: half the range, 100-200 miles OR LESS

Q: What happens if the vehicle runs out of juice on your trip?
A: Stuck, need tow to nearest charge station
Bring a generator with special plug in cables? generator that runs on what, gasoline?

How much of an impact on the planet are you having when the battery cell is dead and needs to be disposed of? (HUGE impact)
People with electric vehicles are NOT GREEN, in fact MOST OF THEM are foolish! Power is EXPENSIVE, more expensive then FUEL. Electric vehicles are very expensive!! Not cheaper....
The battery cells have a larger impact on the environment over their lifetime then if you were to just buy a massive gas guzzling SUV, use it and crush it.......

I am sure there are plenty of places where a electric vehicle makes sense, like golf carts or small cars used to commute a few miles at a time = no big deal....but to think it can replace our current system and we benefit from it (saving the planet) is FOOLISH!!!!!!!!!

Q: How do the batteries, charging stations, natural gas to the power plant, vehicle parts and pieces all get to their factories?
A: Diesel shipping freighters, trains and semi trucks that run on FUEL from the EARTH.

I prefer the other method, remove fuels from earth, refine them, burn then in internal combustion engine, shop around for best fuel prices
(fuel / refine / install in vehicle and burn / repeat)

If you want to be green make engines that run on water..........it has been done, can be done and is being done....but big oil will NEVER let that happen, however they do love it when you buy power from them or their cohorts :)

Ford is only doing this because CALIFORNIA demands it and CA is 10% of the world market for vehicle sales! Cannot afford to lose 10% of the market due to libtard thinking

The Volkswagen Rabbit with a 1.6L 8 valve engine and carburetor was able to achieve 42 mpg back in the 70's, the Honda CRX and Civic were reaching 50+ mpg in the 80's! There have been many many cars capable of making over 45 mpg and have an unlimited range due to fuel stations being available EVERYWHERE

GIVE ME A BREAK!

Just to clarify: I would own an electric Ranger for the novelty of it... not because it is electric.  As 410's rant stated above, electric doesn't mean GREEN.  I just think having a rare electric Ranger would be fun.

I'm kinda leaning toward the Rivian, been following it for a while. I like the fresh design from the ground up, the unusual mid truck storage "trunk" and the fact it has a zero to 60 time that is unbelievable with the mid level battery and the 175HP per wheel motors. This thing has massive ground clearance by design. The thing is a beast.

Electricity shouldn't be as expensive as it is. Everything uses less, refrigerators, AC, lights, it is a different world but electricity has remained expensive, this sucks.

If you run out of gas in the wrong place the towing applies also. Drive down any street, every house and business has electric how many have a gas pump. Many hybrids have chargers not much bigger than like 4 laptop chargers wrapped together that you can use 110.

I just like the idea of electric cars. When I was in my early 20's I drove fork lift at a place that had all electric Hyster fork lifts. They were quick, powerful with plenty of torque (enough to take you through walls trust me) and were dead silent. I remember thinking "why don't they make cars like this". This was like 81 or 82 and the technology was already there... we had endured a fake "fuel crisis" in 74/75 ish with people lined up for miles at the gas stations and some places were charging over a dollar a gallon. We laugh now but that was way out of line for back then when I first drove gas was under 70C a gallon. Someone convert that to liters for Chris please. (humor)

I'm not buying a new truck for a while.  But my next bike will be electric.  Some very cool options for that.

I saw the the Rivian earlier today and the Tesla a few months back, didn't know about the electric F-150... nice one.
considering the prices of the other two, wonder what Ford is asking ?  (Need to look that up) !
I don't understand why the different look of the Rivian and the Tesla Trucks, too futuristic.
All of the problems that might come up are good ones, I was wondering what happens to the batteries after they wear out ?
Just how much will a new set of batteries cost, probably cost less to buy a new truck... maybe that is the long term plan !
I would also think that when introducing a new idea for a truck you would want to keep some of the better styling ideas of the Trucks on the road today... then do some changes to the different style.
I am glad I am not even thinking go one of these electrics trucks.

Looking at those 4 electric vehicles only the F-150 & the Ranger look good, the other 2 are butt ugly. Count me out when it comes to electric vehicles, fossil fuel only for me.

@Mike69: The other two, to me anyway, are trying way too hard to look futuristic.  Thing is, an electric car doesn't have to look radically different than a gas or diesel powered vehicle.

Just noticed the EV ranger uses the 4WD grill, the only other deviation from the horizontal bar 2WD grill and vertical bar 4WD grill in the 98 99 00 ranger was the 4WD with the grill painted the same color as the body (it was a trim package I forgot what it was called help me), that was actually the 2WD grill.

Yeah, noticed that too.  Is Trailhead what you're thinking of? Or more likely, the Splash?
