Setting aside my preference for a bit of noise, has anyone had any experience using Flowmaster 50 Series on a 2004 4.0 Liter single exhaust?

If there is a better option I'd like to hear that as well.

Thanks!

To me it isn't the amount of noise is the actual sound of the noise ?  If that makes sense.

I think DynoMax makes a great sounding Steel Welded Muffler, IMHO.. .more rugged than FlowMaster, also Borla has a good sound, how they sound on a 4.0L, sorry can't tell you.

Some Muffler Sites have a sound track where you pick the truck and then listen to the sound on your truck, not sure if they still do !

LOL you could pipe 2 4.0's through that and it would still flow.

Flowmaster has a very nice sound indeed!! However I agree Borla makes a better muffler, stainless steel and they also sound wicked good.

eegie1,

Do you have muffler already ?

To me and IMHO... FlowMasters has a tinny sound to them when you are applying power.

hmmm.. my Flowmaster 40 sounds like a few things but "tinny" isn't one of them. Most people hear me coming before they should, they know when I've arrived at my destination lol  I actually wish it almost had a stock can on it and just my Heddmans on it maybe sometimes. Being able to sneak up on someone out in the open would be nice instead of sounding like an extra from king of the hammers.

I really need to get a really good sound clip in the cab and near the exhaust exit as a video but my stupid Go-pro doesnt really offer a good external MIC option... ughhhhh!!!!

At the moment I'm leaning toward the 50 Series.  I found a good comparison video.  (link below)

Just listened, nice enough but I hear that ting... !

I thought the Pro Series would sound good on a 5.0L-W in a Ranger, everyone to their own !

The V8 ranger we are selling has a flowmaster 40 series in it
I can tell you it sounds pretty damn good, nice low tone and mean sounding, good rumble.

I have a Walker Dyno Max cat back exhaust system, I like the nice rumble it gives the 4.0.
