When I replaced my carpet today I saw there was a plug on the driver's side near the edge of the door. What's it for? Is it for the power bucket seats? Are they direct bolt on if you have the 60/40 seats?

Uploading a pic will likely net you a better response.

If it was just a body plug it might be covering the body bolt, if it had wires going through it they run to the rear lights, trans, transfer case (if 4WD) & the fuel pump.

I think he means an electrical plug, not a plug in the floor.

The way he worded his post it sounded to me like he was talking about a plug in the floor of his truck since he was replacing the carpet, but I probably misunderstood what he wrote. If he posts a pic of said plug like 12° North said it would make it easier for us to figure out.

Well if you called your "body plugs" grommets as we do this side of the pond, there wouldn't be any confusion .... :P

I usually call them grommets, the OP called it a plug & I just went with what he was calling it. :crazy

In my experience, body plugs and grommets are different.  A grommet is either a cheese loving dog made out of clay or a protective ring to stop abrasion on a wire or tube where it passes through a surface.

I found 2 under an explorer without power seats I recently pulled the carpet from. Both yellow, the passenger side had a yellow cap on it, the driver side had the same cap but attached to the seat rails. I'm thinking it was a power supply for power seats but I don't think that was an option on a Ranger?

Yellow usually associated with airbags etc - maybe seat belt pretensioner?

It was like a 4 or 5 wire connector. It was clipped to the floor pan. I just went ahead and installed my new carpet. I know earlier years they offered the electric adjustable seat. I thought that's what it was. I don't want to have to remove the seat to get a picture. I was just wondering what it might be for.
