Has anyone ever seen this type of Heater Resistor Pak before, Rock Auto p/n: MOTORCRAFT YH1832 - "Motorcraft Resistor Assemblies precision engineered"; Alternate/OEM Part Number(s): F7SZ19E624BB.
Looks to be solid state and it says Motorcraft !

Price is high at $150.00 but if it eliminates the heater Resistor Pak braking down, maybe worth it.

The connector is not the same, why did Rock Auto pop this one up for me to buy... says compatible with 2003 Ranger EDGE.
Here is the backside of the looks solid-state electronic to me.

The next pic is what I am used to... big difference... thinking and searching the web.

Added at 1030 hrs:
Searched the web a little, found the part number under Explorer, but no reference to Ranger.
One Ford Site stated it wasn't FOR the Ranger but never said if it would FIT a Ranger.
Wondering if it will fit the Ranger Housing, a solid-state electronic device should be better than the coils of wire sold for the Ranger.

Added at 1100 hrs:
Just looked on Amazon, it is stated that it fits my 2003 Ranger EDGE... WTF is happening here.
Looking at the wiring, it appears to have two larger gauge power wires, maybe power and ground, but both are the same color, and then smaller wires, which I am guessing are control wires.
If anyone can get a schematics, for this device... who knows it might work.

Added 1135 hrs:
This is the responce to my inquirey from Silver State Ford.
"F7SZ-19E624-BB is the correct updated part for the Ranger.
Thank you,
Silver State Ford"
Now I need to see what Rock Auto sends for a part.
I've email Rock Auto, waiting to hear.

Rock Auto also lists the same part # for my 2000 Ranger.

It doesn't matter what the books say... That part is for the optional Electronic Automatic Temperature Control available in high end 2nd generation Explorers. It will NOT work with the factory Ranger HVAC.

I like Rock Auto but you must cross check them. I would estimate that their application info for our Rangers is only 85~95% correct.

Thank you for clearing that up! Great info (since I'm sure you use one on your rig :) )

The failure point on that resistor pack isn't the pack itself. I have never seen one go bad ON THE INSIDE. It is the connector on the outside that takes on moisture and corrodes, most times to the point it becomes a permanent part of the resistor and cannot be removed! Seen this 4 times now has to be common.

I think the best defense for a long lasting replacement would be simply packing copious amounts of a good grade dielectric grease in the plug/socket upon replacing them both.

I figured it wasn't for the Ranger but what gets me is a couple of Ford Parts Houses said it was the correct part number for a Ranger.  Funny !
Also on another site I was told that this unit uses a Pusle System to control voltage... Ranger don't got it !
Thanks for the info Bob.

But that unit does look indestructible and, and if the Ranger had one of these unit or similar unit, it would cut out a lot of replacement action on the Ranger OEM Unit.
When it was called out by Rock Auto, I thought someone has finally made an HD Replacement but then I saw Motorcraft... what goign on.

So what Bob said, Ranger owners are always getting the short end.

I'm back to OEM Parts again, but first I want to see if there is a fuse on the Ranger Unit, and see if it is blown out, then figure out a way to fix it.

What are the actual symptoms? No fan at all? Fan on high only?

And have you attempted to remove the old one yet?

The symptoms are the fan only has high and what I think is low !

I have not removed the Resistor Pac because I need to remove the Washer/Overflow Res and plan on both at the same time.
I should have all of the parts needed for the Reservoir replacement in a day or two and will attempt the fix then. The Cruise Control Module needs to be removed for both fixes so I may save a little time.

The last Resistor Pac lasted less than one year, it has been in the broken state for over four years... been a while since I had a fan with more than two speeds.
