Thank you for clearing that up! Great info (since I'm sure you use one on your rig :) ) The failure point on that resistor pack isn't the pack itself. I have never seen one go bad ON THE INSIDE. It is the connector on the outside that takes on moisture and corrodes, most times to the point it becomes a permanent part of the resistor and cannot be removed! Seen this 4 times now has to be common. I think the best defense for a long lasting replacement would be simply packing copious amounts of a good grade dielectric grease in the plug/socket upon replacing them both.
