As you know I'm 5 speed swapping my 98 using a 2000 as a donor. I have removed all the parts for the Pat's and installed and wired in my 98. With the exception of 1 wire. It's a blue/orange wire coming from the Pat's module. The only parts of the 2000 donor I have left is the dash harness cuz I thought it would be a good idea to haul the donor in for scrap. I was able to trace the wire in the dash harness to the big plug on the left lower corner of the firewall.from there I'm guessing the wire in question goes out under the hood. I'm getting a crank no start. I read where pats when activated shots off fuel pump and injectors. I found in a Haynes manual wiring diagram a blue/orange wire coming from the fuel pump relay to a 20a fuse that says fuel system anti theft hot at all times. Could this be the wire in question?

Do you have the theft light wire also? dark Blue with light green is theft light, did you hook up theft light? Is it flashing?

I do NOT have a blue / orange wire in the pats module wiring diagram.
My book is 2000 Explorer. I will keep digging are you 100% sure it is blue/orange? Dark blue? We WILL get to the bottom of this.
In the meantime check your power wires, the pats module MUST have the correct power wiring, if you tap into the cig lighter or radio for power check your fuses.......

My book was a 2000 ranger and it too did not have that color wire. I just got an emphatic text saying it runs though. :) Spoiler alert

Also you can stick the 98 pcm in there and see if it fires just for testing

I just heard over text its running
the dark blue with orange wire was removed at some point in 99, it is a constant power feed.
I found the wire in a 98 Mustang PATS diagram LOL

CONGRATS!!! So glad you got it running!! 5 speed = fun

Proof again that the year it says on the title isn't always the year the parts came from.

Teamwork!! It is nice to be in the information age where we can get these answers so easily! Back when I did my first 4.0 and 5 speed conversion I had much help...but it wasn't all online yet, I had to get help from local people!! It took ALOT longer..... the truck ran because I had help with wiring from a old ranger enthusiast, it took me and my friend Brett 2 years to get the wiring sorted out 100% and make it right....after that I have been helping others where I can. Give back for what I had been given so to speak
Can't wait to see the conversion all done!
I will always remember the feeling of letting the clutch out for the first time in my BII with the new to me ohv 4.0 and 5 speed, I was so impressed! The old 2.9 just had nothing on the bored and stroked torque monster 4.0 ohv

Really all that is left is put the transmission in drive shafts take the full length expo console out and replace it with a mid length console and weld the y-pipe back together

Lol. We need to take that grinder away from you! You are always millimeters from cutting it up it seems. Glad you persevered. We have some very knowledgeable and helpful members! Thanks JAMMAN and 410Customs for helping black06xlt save one more ranger!
