 There has been recent discussions about the torsen rear differential that came stock on some FX4's and FX4 level 2's.
They were standard equipment in the 2002 FX4, and 2003-2007 FX4 Level II's. In 2008-2009,the Torsen was optional, no idea how many took the option but it would be crazy not to it is the greatest idea since spider gears.

Here is a video that explains it very well BUT going in to this video there is one simple thing they forgot to mention that isn't as obvious to some non gear heads: The large ring gear you see is driving the helical and spur gears FROM those 6 shafts, it is attached physically to them. That and the tid bit he puts in the beginning will help even the non mechanically inclined to understand.

 My son and I saw this video on YouTube one night when we were discussing limited slip diffs for his Ranger.  This is by far the BEST design ever.  Just a bit hard to find!

 The axle appeared to have ripped out from under the truck. It was hit hard in the right rear tire area. But when its inventoried it's coming to my bay for me to dismantle

 At the time I just didn't have the drive to lay in the mud to pull it out. If it makes anyone feel better it had almost 300k on it and was beat to hell and back.
