It has been a while since I had a Ranger before the '04. The previous Ranger was a '72 F-100 that had flipped the odometer twice when I got it in '79. It was a 3-on-the-tree, full instruments, AM radio, 302 going back to a 3:73 LS rear.

It burned a quart of oil to every tank of fuel. It finally sent a rod through the oil pan. I ended up putting a .060 over bore 351 that was heavily massaged in it.

I ended up having to replace the transmission and rear end not too long after.

Edited for spacing. This hasn't happened for a while.

In the late 60's/early 70's the Ranger package was full instrumentation and a LS rear on a V-8 truck.

Only five of them over the last 28 years, I like to keep my trucks as long as possible.

The first one is by far the one I liked the best, no pictures on the LapTop but will post something when I get the the Desk Top.

1) 1988 STX, High Rider, came with a 2" Lift on it.  2.9L, 5 sp, 4x, Standard Cab, Short bed, dark blue with STX Stripes
Looked for a Stepside Bed for her but never found one I liked so she stayed Styleside.  Avg. mpg around 20 on the 2.9L.
5.0L Conversion using L&L Products Kit, one of the best around, used a C4 Automatic and OEM Transfer case, mpg with the 5.0L was better than the 2.9L by a few mpg, not always, thinking I didn't have to put the pedal to the metal as much with all of the power than I had, except for the smoke shows !

2) Early Bronco, 1972, rust bucket with big hopes that never got further than the side of my Barn.  Sold her after a year and she became a Plow Truck and after that who knows.

3) 1995 XL, 2x, Base Model, 2.3L-4, 5-sp, green, another standard Cab, short bed... good little truck, avg. 24 mpg.
Sucked for winters in New England, was almost dangerous to drive in s snow storm but she got me where I wanted to go.
Stayed Stock... !

4) 1988 XLT, Ext Cab, Steppie, 4.0L, Auto, 4x, green, bought her with a bad tranny, no reverse but when forward without a problem.  Replaced the Tranny and it turned out to be a great truck.  Passed it on to the Wife until it decide to bite the big one...  sold her cheap for parts.  MPG... not worth mentioning, but she did what she had to do !
Stayed Stock... !

5) 2003 EDGE, 4x, 5-sp, 3.0L, standard Cab, Short Bed, RED... came with a style side bed, changed it out after the first year for a Steppie.
This is the one I now have and had for 12 of its 15 years, 95K, and with the slightly larger cab has been a great truck with all of the room I need at 6'2".  It may even surpass the '88 STX  except for the 3.0 SLOW.   Always shifting for long hills but still hoping for a new motor but California is a hard place to get a motor that will work without a lot of hassle.

6) Next Ranger... NEVER !  when the '03 decides it is time to take off her wheels and rust away  it will be my last.   I DO NOT LIKE THE LOOKS OF THE NEW RANGER, period !  Why Ford has to change something that was selling so well and then when THEY decide it is time to bring back what they have been giving the world all along, they bring back a POS, car version, of what they call a truck... WHY !?!  No answers needed !  To make matter worse, IF the new Bronco comes back, it may look just like the Ranger... another big mistake and another lost opportunity to sell me a new vehicle.

Anyway thats my list of past, present, and not the future of my Ranger Ownership.  Thanks you FORD !

Now if you want to talk just Ford based Vehicle, I have owned a few more of them !

I have had 3 Rangers since 1996,
1) Was a 1996 Extd Cab, 4.0, 4x4, w/PL, PM, & 5 spd, AM/FM single cd, in medium willow green, w/a gray interior w/the 60/40 split bench seat. Leased it brand new then bought it after the lease was over. Unfortunately I wrecked it after I paid it off. Had it for 6 years.
2) Next one was a 2000 Extd Cab, 4.0, 4x4, w/PW, PM, PL, cruise, tilt wheel, AM/FM/single cd, w/the Off Road package, & auto, in bright Atlantic blue, w/the 60/40 split bench seat. After the seat back frame cracked I replaced the l/s seat w/a l/s bucket seat from a late 90's Explorer Sport & installed the shorty console from the same Explorer. I had purchased this Ranger with the mileage in the low 20K range & ran it up to 165K before one or both of the heads cracked right around the time we were getting ready to move so I traded it in on a Escape for my wife & I took her Explorer Sport to drive for a few years. I had this Ranger for 7 years.

3) Current Ranger is also a 2000 Extd Cab, 4.0, 4x4, w/PM, PW, PL, cruise, tilt wheel, AM/FM cassette/ single cd, w/the off road package, auto, in medium platinum, w/gray cloth bucket seats, shorty console. This is the first Ranger I did any mods to. So far I have had this Ranger for coming up on 5 years.

We have had mostly all Fords my wife is driving her 3rd Explorer Sport, she had a Bronco II and an Escort before that. We also have a 08 Excape, & a 69 Mustang Coupe (which is my 5th Mustang that I have owned), 1970, 1969, 1968 GT, 1965, & another my current 1969.

Mike69,
The Visor in the picture, is it designed for the newer body style or the older one.
I have a squared off one but it is the discontinues style and I believe it will fit but just wondering the years that one you have will fit ?

I added the newer LUND Lights Kit to mine, low profile LED, sort of a tear drop style, looking for the top.

Scrambler82, I purchased the cab visor from a member on that "other Ranger forum" & IIRC it came off 2004/2005 because it was dark shadow gray & mounted on my truck you can not tell the difference in the colors as mine is medium platinum gray.

The Visor looks like the newer one, in the way it mounts but it has the squared off look like mine, that I like !
