NoPower got a ticket of 65.00 dollars just for sitting in front of my own home w/a blown 3.0. Someone must have a burr up their a-hole. I look at it every day and never seen a citation under the wipers. Now granted I'm not innocent. I failed to re-register the tags. Now I need to figure out what to do with it.

a) move it onto private property that you own/control and fix it.

b) move it onto private property that you own/control and either sell it or part it out. Call the crusher for carcass recycling after it's parted out.

c) surrender it to a JY, let them part it out and recycle the carcass.

d) give it to someone who will fix it.

You got a citation because you're a part of "their" system, it was on "their" [assumed/presumed] street..

That's what I should have started with for my 2wd. Don's is a 4 wheeler.
My swap got so messy it is ridiculous, still not finished.

I didn't get as detailed as I did on the original forum I posted it on but you can still feel my pain. Plus that forum went south quickly exactly why I started this one.

Here in our town even if it's in your yard or lane,if it's got an expired plate beyond 30 days and facing the street they will ticket it and you'll have 3 days to move it. Not just vehicles either, lawn mowers or anything the City considers trashy looking. They passed an Ordinance about 15 years ago and in the beginning a none plated vehicle couldn't even be seen,it had to be in your garage and the cops would actually walk in your your backyard or in your lane just to see if it was legal. They finally changed it to where the plate has to be facing the street. If a tagged vehicle isn't taken care of in the 3 days, they'll have it tow3ed and impounded at your expense. It even goes the same for the grass,if it's over so many inches tall they'll tag your house and you've got a certain amount of time to mow it or they'll have the City guys do it and Bill you for it. I'm glad I got out of the City limits again,to many rules there.

UPDATE!!!! Jamman and his two sons were awesome and came over this morning and helped Nick & Sue while I stood there and stupervised and put NoPower in the driveway out of the way so I can still get the ElCamino & Mustang out of the garage. Now I can worry on paying this ticket. Thanks Jim for the F-R stickers, your sons and the back breaking job.

That's the best thing I've read on any forum in a very long time.  Thanks Jamman and Sons for showing us humanity still has a chance.  Don, post some pics of the ElCamino and Mustang.  If you already have, post a link please.

Tell me about it,the guy who owned the Chevy dealership had an old Ford that didn't run,he was going to restore, parked in the back of the Police Station parking lot and they never said a word. 1 of the Auctioneers has an old truck in the lane of his office too, been there for years, nothing has been said about it. It all depends on who you are if anything is ever said.

What about a good ol 4.0L OHV with 5 speed manual?
We do this conversion all the time too
If you get the M5OD HD and use the larger SOHC clutch, then upgrade the OHV a little bit you get a heck of a truck in the end
Long live the pushrod 4.0!

He can't shift a manual effectively any more his right arm is permanently injured. I don't think he would mind me telling everyone.

I'm probably going to store it at my shop for a while, well it isn't my shop but might as well be there are only 4 in charge now and I'm one of them.

410 have you done a 3.0 to 4.0 conversion?

Problem being Ford didn't put a 4.0 behind a 7.5 rear, every 4.0 I have ever seen had the 8.8 mostly the baby 8.8 28 tooth spline.

yes all 4.0 trucks had the 8.8 from factory. First 4.0's were in the 90 Ranger, rumors of some 90-91 BII with a factory 4.0 exist also but I have never seen one.
The 4.0L was nothing more then a mas air bored and stroked 2.9 finally ditching the crappy TFI ignition and finally making torque under 2000 rpm

Yes I have done 2.3/2.5 4 bangers to 4.0 OHV
I have done 3.0 to 4.0L OHV
and we have even done 3.0 to 4.0 SOHC
I have done several 4.0 auto to stick and even a couple the other way 5 speed to auto
Heck we even have a 93 Explorer sport 4x4 running a 04 SOHC engine using the 93 ohv PCM
I have Gen I and Gen II pedal assemblies in stock along with PCM's just to use for these swaps in case.
I can do manual or e shift t cases  on any RBV here too

We always ditch the 7.5 in favor of the 31 spline explorer disc brake rear on any of our conversion projects. With that said The 7.5" can hold up quite well even behind the V8 its all about the driver

My 1988 Bronco II was a 2.9L with mitsubishi 5 speed factory
in 1997 or so I converted it to a 93 OHV 4.0L and Mazda 5 speed
A few years later I converted it to a built A4LD automatic (for traffic and 4x4ing I prefer auto)
I drove my BII with a 4.0L for 10+ years before in 2005 and after a couple of a4Ld's I finally went 302

A good friend of mine has a 96 Ranger standard cab short bed, it was a 2.5L and we converted that sucker to 2000 OHV with the M5OD HD and using the SOHC flywheel and clutch. His 96 has the hybrid D28/35 ttb and a 7.5" rear. It held up fine like that for a couple years before we finally put the 31 spline explorer discs in the back.
That truck has Borla headers and custom exhaust, a few 4.0 tricks and runs like a top. Plenty of power for an old timer (my buddy is 70 now loves his Ranger)

I understand about the shifting we can do a 5r55e behind the ohv also. My good friend Brett builds my 5r55e's and he makes them TOUGH with all the Sonnax updates, no corners cut.

ASked about the 6 speed behind a 302/351 SBF here is the answer:

"Use 6r80 6 speed Ford trans
But for the 6r80, you can get one from a 4x4 truck. There are adapters out there to a SBF bolt pattern. The adapters are about $500. Controllers are about $1200, but I can get you a little better price since I'm a dealer for them"

So unbeknownst to me we can use a Ford 6 speed just time and $$$$
