They're not necessarily an XLT thing. Cameron's 1999 XLT has the black handles. Not sure, but I'm guessing it would be defined as a color group option?

Interesting, i didn't know they came in anything other than natty black plastic like mine.
I've seen door cards similar to mine, but with pockets and a more common door handle (interior) design, honestly, you can't get lower/worse than mine, so anything would be an upgrade.

Cameron's (1999) handles are different than mine. Yours should be the same as the 2003.

Ya they made pockets and a thicker pad at the top but they were pretty dirty. I'm going back Friday. Pm me your number and I can text you pictures

Got the mic for my Bluetooth head unit and installed it. Haven't called anyone yet to test, maybe this evening when I go to wallyworld for dog food.

Went off road a little last weekend finding a spot to shoot in the forest. Had some mud stuck to the doors and underneath. I had to pressure wash off all the mud then I washed her up all nice! Vacuumed and wiped down the interior as well.

Replaced the dented door.  Wrecking yard door was a manual one.  So all in all it too me about 4 hours including a trip to the parts store to get a new lock actuator.  Now I need to wash it and go get the windows re tinted.  Back door is still dented but I don't care

I hooked it up to the trickle charger. It has been a couple of days since I drove it and I will be driving the car this week. The Fusion gets 37mpg HWY and I have a 50 mile 1-way commute for 4 days. Less than 2/3 tank in the Fusion vs a tank of fuel and another 1/2 tank in the Ranger. They both have about the same size fuel tank.

Rented a steering wheel remover.

Discovered you can't use a steering wheel remover to remove the steering wheel.

Rented a "puller" of some description - used a 3/8th to 1/4th adaptor to space between the steering shaft and the puller.

Moved wiring from old steering wheel and installed new leather Exploder wheel, thanks Kealel :)

Pullers are too general. I rented an entire kit (would have cost 140 bucks) and couldn't pull the harmonic balancer on one of my 4.0's. I ended up buying a cheap puller and making the rest of the needed items.. I now have a large piece of allthread with a center drilled in it that takes the suckers right off with a $19 puller. Longer bolts also with hardened washers.

So I can believe the steering wheel puller didn't work on the steering wheel lol.

I did invest in a nice fan clutch tool though.

I have never needed a steering wheel puller.

So you use the..... sit in driver seat, pound on the wheel from the outside back with both hands till it pops off and hits you in the face method?

LOL Not quite, Jim. No hammers involved. LOOSEN the bolt (this keeps your face in one piece), plant feet firmly on the floor board and pull left then right, top then bottom. Never had one that wouldn't come off, although I have ran across a couple of stubborn ones that I had to really work at.

P.S. I am not a big, strong, muscular guy here...

Sorry about the pics, for various reasons, i ran out of time to finish everything before having to leave for the day, though the wheel is on.
Oddly, i completely screwed up any before pics (have to find library footage ;) ) and no pics of, old wheel, new wheel.I'll go out and wipe down the leather conditioner i left on it before taking a new pic and throw them up in my project thread.
The wheel needed more cleaning that i thought after i got it into the light of the cab, so it's mostly cleaned off now, leather fairly comprehensively cleaned and the wheel had most of the built up crud cleaned off with 303 and a microfiber.

Anyway, for now, here is the final puller config i used.
