My entire BRAIN lives in my phone.  It reminds me of the plethora of things I have to do, and at what day and time.  Without it, I probably couldn't find my way home from work!  LOL

No smart phone for me, all I have is a flip phone. I am semi-retired working only 4 hours a day 4 days a week. If I forget to do something today (which is highly likely) I will do it tomorrow. :)

I'm somewhere between both of you. I miss my phone when it isn't with me but I could live without it.

I buy cheap phones, I currently have the galaxy A14 which I believe is their lowest model. Phones last me 4 years usually, twice what the establishment recommends.

Lol - I buy used and about 3 models back from current! A Galaxy S9 has served me for a year or so and an S6 for 4 years before that.

The phone that got wrecked, I got for free from AT&T (long story) about 2 1/2 years ago.  Perfect condition.  When I got the trashed phone back in my hands, I went into the  attic and retrieved my pristine, gently used iPhone 6s.  I charged it up and attempted to move my stuff over to it.  Since the phone was so old, it was locked in at iOS 15.8 and I couldn't transfer my apps and data from the newer phone that was running iOS 17.1.1.  I would have been perfectly fine reverting back to that old 6s... but since I couldn't move my data, I would have lost a butt-tonne of things I was not willing to lose.  Quickest and easiest way to recover in this instance, was just go buy a new phone.

Y'all need to start posting to this thread... I KNOW you guys and gals are doing things to your trucks.  'nuff said...

Saturday and Sunday (12/17/23 - 12/18/23):

Replaced timing chain and gears/water pump/gaskets (of course)/harmonic balancer repair sleeve.  Honestly, I watched a half-dozen YouTube videos on this (for the gotchas) before I started and it wasn't nearly as bad as they make it out to be.  All said and done, the truck runs better and the leak at the timing cover is resolved (it had started to DUMP coolant).

I purchased the parts from RockAuto back in late March 2023.  April, I had a nasty fall in the garage and tore up my left rotator cuff.  Those parts have sat there all this time, waiting for me to install them.  Of course, there was that expressway sandwich in August that screwed up both the front and back end, so that took up some time.  Then, the truck NEEDED the front suspension rebuilt (eating tires).  Followed up with the rear shackles/hangers/bushings for both ends of the leaf springs.

Now the truck rides like a dream/runs great/looks good again...  NOW... I want to stop working on this truck and actually ENJOY it for a while!

Okay, so I DIDN'T stop working on this truck!  LOL  Today I set out to install my new e-brake cables that I bought back in June of 2021 (that's when life went a bit sideways).  As some of you know, I did a SN95 Mustang rear disc brake swap in June 2021.  I have been running without e-brake since then.  Bought the parts but life got in the way and they have sat in the garage all this time.  Funny thing is that it took all of two hours to install them and test.

A couple of other things I will need to do soon is a pinion seal and an oil pan gasket.  Looking at the underside of the truck, the oil pan really won't be a big deal, so I will probably do it when the truck is due for it's next oil change.  The pinion seal?  Maybe this weekend.

Are you putting the Expo dash in the Splash? (yeah, that rhymes)

I get that, normally a V8 swap doesn't include the dash, hence my confusion.

I looked at mine today. Parked in front of my house. Fuel pump dead.

I know the feeling Jim, mine is sitting next to the garage with half of the engine torn apart. :(

That's a nice looking two bay garage you have there, Mike!  Is the Mustang inside there getting finished?

Thanks Mike. Yes, it is. It is slow going right now. It is cold & the garage has no heat yet & my back is hurting so not much going on right now. It is up on jack stands; & I was starting to run the fuel lines when it got cold.

I hear you on the cold!  Single digit lows here and highs only in the teens.  I have a couple of small projects to do on my truck, but it is just too cold to crawl around on a concrete garage floor.

I dropped a tank on my 01 over the weekend and put a fuel pump in. A half full tank.

Filler tube on the way, better not need gas before it gets here!

Forgot to disconnect the vent tube in the back and busted the fitting. The I.D. of that little plastic fitting is exactly the size of steel brake line, I put some kinks in it and shoved the 2 broken pieces back together. No evap code so I must have sealed it!

Started right up and runs great.

I can't imagine dropping a half-full gas tank.  That's just too much work, I would have drained it somehow.  But then again, I'm a bit lazy...

When I had to work on the fuel pump in my 2000 Ranger I removed the bed. I felt that was the easiest way for me to do it. I tied rope through the tie down hooks & lifted it off with an engine hoist.

I think that would be an easier way, not to mention giving access to other things that may need some love as well!

I replaced my shackles and mounts with the bed still on.  NOT the easiest way to go about it!

Mines a steppie with a hard cover. I would have had to take the cover off, empty the last remnants of my storage unit out of the bed, then where do I put the bed when I pull it?

My house is entirely too small.

When I pulled the bed off of my Ranger I put 2 saw horses on the side of the house & set the bed on the sawhorses.

Shame that Ford didn't put some decent paint system on that chassis (frame) - I would treat with phosphoric acid to neutralise the rust and give it a coat of Hammerite ( metal paint)
