Thanks Mike!  I've been doing a bit of Google searching, and when it comes to the rear bumper, a lot of places never mention styleside or flareside at all.  Of course, we all know that they are not interchangeable.  I will keep looking.  Car-Part.com is one I haven't checked yet.  CarID.com has a new one in stock to the tune of almost $700.  Comes with the step pad and brackets, so that may be my best option.

I would try used before dropping that amount of money on a new one.

Well, the guy's insurance company is the one that will be paying for this.  My concern is them finding a used bumper that is as nice as mine was.  At first, I thought my bumper would be fine with some new brackets, but on closer inspection, it is warped and twisted.

Mike if you are not footing the bill go new. I thought you were paying for it that is why I suggested used.

Well, it remains to be seen if they fix the truck or not.  Talked to the "claims counselor" and he said a truck that old may be deemed a total loss.  Cost of repair vs. wholesale value.  I told him if they total it, they will be paying for the damage AND I will be keeping the truck... no negotiation on that.  I looked up the parts that it will take to put it back to what it was.  That comes to right at $2000.00.  Add the labor to replace the parts along with the labor, paint and materials for the lower R.H. bed corner and that will push it past wholesale value, which KBB states is $2619.00.  My thoughts are: I had a nice truck that I was happy driving.  Their driver took that away.  If I have to replace that truck with a comparable vehicle, it will cost $9000 or more... IF I can find one.

Almost one- & one-half years ago my 2000 Ranger started dumping coolant from between the engine & the trans & I could not find where it was coming from so I parked it. I went to try & find another one & all I could find were ones that were trashed & the sellers were asking top dollar for them. I ended up buying a nice low mileage 05 2WD F-150 that I found south of me in NC.

I found a BEAUTIFUL 2003 FX4 Level II in Nebraska for $13,999.  Would love to have it but I don't want a vehicle payment.

You could have the insurance company fix the front bumper & just take the back one off for now so they do not total the truck & fix the back later.

Well, I got an estimate after work yesterday.  $5500!  Based on information the body shop has access to, they said it most likely will be deemed a total loss.  I guess I will find out!

Well, not quite done, but close.  All I lack is wiring up my new headlights and new tailpipe/chrome tip.  Here is how it looks now:

Back to looking like a truck again!  New addition is a Reese hitch, which needs the 7-way connector bolted on and wired in.  My son will be doing that for me.

The entire truck got a machine polish and machine wax.  It also got a new windshield (not part of the accident).  It's been a huge amount of work and a LOT of money, but I think it looks good, considering that I don't have a shop with fancy specialized tools.

I'll be replacing a fuel pump soon, my silver one wouldn't start this morning. No sound at all from the fuel pump

Not sure if I will get to it this weekend, but I have parts in hand (and on the way) to replace the rear leaf shackle brackets, shackles and bushings.  The brackets and shackles aren't that bad, but I inherited a new set from my son that he had bought right before he totaled his Ranger.  So I bought the rest of the bushings and will do it all at once.  I also plan on rebuilding the front suspension as well, but on a different weekend.  Oh yeah, and I still have the parts to replace the water pump, timing chain & gears and related parts.  This sh*t just never ends!  LOL

Mike,
Do you have a need for a radiator for the Ranger? I had gotten a new one for my 00 Ranger just before the engine died, & my wife is bugging me to scrap the truck.
Mike.

Mike, when I was inspecting my truck after the accident, I took a good look at my radiator and found it to be in amazingly good condition.  Last fall, I did a double flush when I replaced the heater core.  I was surprised at how clean the old fluid was (replaced it anyway, of course).  Anyway, I am thinking I won't need a radiator as long as I continue to take care of this one.  I do appreciate the offer, though!

Mike, that truck still looks pretty nice.  I would hate for you to just scrap it.  Maybe find a decent used engine and bring it back to life.  Or at least find someone interested in buying it to drop an engine in themselves.  It just needs to be on the road!

Spent the last several days rebuilding the front suspension on my truck.  UCAs, LCAs, inner and outer tie rods, sway bar bushings, end links and Monroe Matic Plus shocks.  Front end alignment coming Monday morning.  I'm currently working on the rear suspension... replaced the forward spring bushings and I am starting the shackles, mounts and bushings on the back end of the springs.  All of this is slow-going since I don't own a lift or an acetylene torch (or a decent left shoulder).  After the front was done, I took it out for a drive to settle things in a bit.  I was simply amazed at how smooth it rode and steered.  Can't wait to see what the rear rebuild will do for it!

Yesterday (Monday 11/27/23), I got the front end aligned.  It's getting expensive!  After I picked it up that afternoon, I backed it into the garage, changed clothes and started in on the left side shackle and bracket.  Got it cut off, the old sleeve and rubber bushing out of the spring eyelet, all cleaned up and a couple coats of black Rustoleum.  New parts installed and torqued to spec.  I wiped down my tools and put them away, pulled the truck out of the shop and gave the floor a good sweep.  All junk parts and trash in the bin.  Took the truck for a test drive in a circle that is about 5 miles long.  I was amazed at how good it rides and handles.  I pulled it back into the garage, planning on having a celebratory Scotch after my shower.  That's when I realized I had left my phone on the left corner of the bed cover.  Yeah, of course it was no longer there.  I checked the driveway and down our street to where I made my first turn.  No phone.  I went into the house and logged into iCloud to work the "Find my phone" magic.  That phone stayed on the bed cover almost the entire test drive.  The next to last turn I made, I goosed it a bit to beat the light changing to yellow.  Right there in the street, face down was my once pristine iPhone SE...  the screen completely trashed.  Not a scratch on the cheap eBay case.  Amazingly, the phone functioned perfectly except for the Home button.  Luckily, Apple has a virtual home button that I was successful in getting enabled, so the phone was "useable".  Let me tell you; a broken phone screen will absolutely draw blood if you're not careful!  Needless to say, I went to the AT&T store today and I now am the owner of a shiny new black iPhone 14.

Well, Squidward, what have we learned today?  Don't park your phone anywhere on your truck!

Wow bad luck on the phone! I've left mine in the cart at Kroger twice recently. Found it both times, still face down in the cart where a kid would normally sit if I had one young enough.

With these phones running $1k give or take, it really hits the wallet hard when we screw up.  Lucky for me, AT&T had been emailing me about their Black Friday deals on phones.  So I picked up this iPhone 14 for $51 (sales tax on full retail price) then $5.00/mo. for 36 months, making this brain fart cost me around $230. So, do I add that to the cost of my truck rebuild??  LOL

Yep!  That's the cost of education, for sure.  Normally, my phone lives in my right rear pocket.  Since I was crawling around on the shop floor under my truck, it wouldn't stay in my pocket.  Hence, I put it on the bed cover.  Next time I have to park the phone elsewhere, it will be on a non-moving object like the workbench.  I have owned 5 iPhones, a couple of Blackberrys (in the day), three Motorola Razors and a couple of "candy bar" Nokia phones.  This is the ONLY phone that I have destroyed, so I guess I'm doing pretty good.  I manage the company phones at work and I've got a couple of employees that can break a phone faster than you can blink...

I have always had a Samsung and it lives either in my right front jeans pocket or overnight on the charging pad - I dare not put it down elsewhere or I would forget where I put it!

I use it to pay at the store so if it wasn't in my pocket I would forget to take it.

That's age for you ....
