Now I'm having problems getting to threads with multiple pages. Sometimes it just times out. I see lots of visitors and rare posts I think because the place loads so slow. Man I miss having servers of my own but I can't swing it any more with food trips costing 120 bucks instead of 55-60.

Anyhow I started ripping apart the silver Ranger now that I have a $450 explorer to drive back and forth to work. I gained a cylinder, 7 instead of 6. Should be 8 but one just doesn't fire.

So I removed the entire knuckle, hammered out the lower ball joint and was working on the upper arm removal when the sun went away and it started sleeting. Seriously. Since I am in no hurry at all I put the tools away and are here complaining. Hope I can send this post!

I finally got the left UCA on and bolts in, will not tighten them since whoever aligns the front end will need to adjust the camber (and caster somewhat...).

I also pressed the lower ball in the same side. I just realized I have NEVER owned a grease gun of my own, I have always been able to borrow one from work. I want my own now.

Ball joints were wasted but not as bad as a couple I have worked on. The shocks were the worst I have ever seen, like a rod in an open bushing. Stabilizer bushings were gone.

I should have the left done by the weekend and plan on tearing the right down.

I won't put the stab bushings in till it is together, much easier to put both on at the same time.

Left and right UCA on, bolts backed off for alignment. UCA's by mevotech but not TTX since they didn't make them for 2WD coil springs. I knew the lowers would work.

New urethane sway bar bushings in.

Urethane bushings and new links in and tight.

Mevotech TTX lower ball joints in.

Left knuckle back on, ABS line connected.

Need right knuckle and the rotors from my expo then ready for  alignment.

Well, I actually did the following back on April 22nd:

Installed a new 130 amp alternator and GatorBack belt.  Had to use an angle grinder to clearance the aluminum bracket just a bit since the 130 is a larger diameter than the stock 95 amp.  That went well.  Then, I put on my summer wheels and tires and took care of a small differential girdle bolt leak and cleaned off the seeped out oil.  That's when everything went to crap.  I store the wheel/tire sets that aren't on the truck on top of shelving units in the garage.  Oh no!  I couldn't be bothered with getting the step stool from the other side of the garage.  I just grabbed that handy little cardboard barrel that was sitting there.  Worked just fine for tires 1 and 2.  Tire number 3 wasn't cooperating and I took a side step with my left foot.  Top caved in and down I went, with a wheel and tire following me to the concrete below.  Now I'm in a sling, stitches on the four entry wounds from rotator cuff surgery and am on FMLA until further notice.  This is Memorial Day weekend and my plan was to install an e-fan (hence the 130 amp alternator), new timing chain/gears, water pump, etc.  Instead, I'm in the recliner binge-watching Street Outlaws on Discovery + under the influence of Percoset.  What a dumb*ss I am...

Hope you all have a great Memorial Day weekend!!!

Thanks guys!  Yeah, I have only myself to blame for this.  And I knew it was a bad idea when I did it.  It's been over 24 hours since I took my last Percoset.  Don't want to create a dependency on that!  Sure miss my beer though! LOL

Good Lord, Eddie!  Your project seems to have exploded since last time I looked at your build thread.  Truck is definitely moving along, but God help you if you ever have a wiring issue!  LOL  I'm very happy to see all the progress!

P.S.  I'm jealous!  You found a shifter handle with the chrome trim!

Sorry you got hurt bud, there's enough people around you that care I bet you are well taken care of.

I hear Eddie has filed adoption papers for Jamie to be his son, it's the only way he will be able to keep his truck running! Just don't throw away the napkin container with all the electrical diagrams on it :-)

I can't get the site to work well enough to upload the latest pictures of my truck. Did a LOT of work on it.

So, on the way home from work, I became the bottom pattie of an automobile hamburger.  I was the third vehicle in a four-car pile up.

So, that's what I did to MY Ranger today...

P.S. I might add that the person that actually CAUSED the accident drove of into the sunset... #*^%*()*^

On a completely different subject for a moment:

Chris / Jim: why is it that I get ZERO notifications for any thread I am subscribed to?  This one included.

Hey there Eddie!

Yep, I'm perfectly fine. Didn't even hurt the already injured shoulder. The truck, however, is another story.  Since I only have PD LI insurance on it, this will most likely come out of my pocket to repair. However, since I was sandwiched in between two cars, it is possible the guy behind me insurance may pay for it. Time will tell.

Question for all you guys (and gals):  Are the REAR bumper brackets the same for the style side and flare side bumpers?  I think my bumper itself will be okay, but the brackets that mount it to the frame are complete toast.  Any information would be greatly appreciated!

Mike, I just checked at LMC Truck & all they list is for a styleside bed. Mike try searching on car-part.com. I found many in my area with rear bumpers from a styleside bed. You may have to get the bumper & brackets. When I did a search for bumper brackets nothing came up, but when I did a search for rear bumpers for a styleside I got a bunch. Hope that helps.
