I don't have that switch as its only 4x2, so I want to put the spotlight switch there, any idea if there is maybe 2 inches behind the fascia in that area?

I have to agree, and it is easy to pull off and look. 2 X M7 head screws point upward over the hvac controls and just pull the thing off. It comes most of the way out (brings the radio with it) before you have to start disconnecting wires. Mildly easier with the radio already out but not a deal breaker.

plenty of room behind the 4x4 switch, depending on how large of a switch you want to use, you might need to trim a little of the dash plastic for clearance, but most times there's plenty of room
