Has anyone else noticed, when you park a ranger outside and it rains then freezes... the doors are more difficult than normal to get in to? Seems much worse than other cars and trucks I have owned, though it has happened to other cars it seems to be an all the time on Rangers (older ones).

Out of the 2 Rangers left in my fleet, I only had one out of 4 that opened just now.

Rain like 3 days ago, 1 degree temps right now.

Maybe spray some de-icer on the door seals before shutting the door?

That's forethought, not an American trait.

I had to go to the grocery store to grab a few items on Thursday December 22nd.  The winter storm was just starting to roll in, so it was 46 degrees and a little bit of rain/snow was coming down, not much though.  I got to Meijer, grabbed a cart and started shopping.  Got everything I needed (along with standing in line for some prescriptions for the wife) and checked out.  This took about 40 minutes.  When I got to my truck, I couldn't open the bed cover as it was frozen shut as the temp had dropped like a rock and the wind was at about 30 miles an hour.  I then had to beat my way into the cab with my gloved fists.  Luckily, I was able to get the driver side door open and the groceries fit behind the seats.  Had the truck warming and I saw the temp had dropped to 31 degrees in the time I was in the store.  Had one more stop to make, which was a 15 minute drive.  Got there, ran in and got what I needed (another 15 minutes) and the damn door had frozen again.  Beat my way in AGAIN and drove home which was another 10 minutes.  When I pulled into the driveway, the temp had dropped to 23 degrees.  I took my shopping into the house, flipped the wipers up and left it there, unlocked, in the driveway for the next 4 days, which saw negative temps.  That SUCKED!

I've heard that rubbing WD-40 on the door seals will prevent that from happening, but I hate the smell of that stuff, so I haven't tried it.  And yes, Jim, that takes forethought... which I rarely subscribe to.

Happy New Year!

Silicone spray keeps it lubed and should help with the sticking too. Spray and wipe off the excess. Takes the brown off too.

When we lived in NJ that would happen to my 00 Ranger & our 99 Explorer all the time.

I'm going to try that.  Rumor has it that we are going to get some more of that crap we had Christmas weekend, so that would be a good time to try it.  Can't hurt!

Monday night (01/30/2023), it started sleeting then turned to freezing rain (yay!).  WHILE it was coming down, I went out with a shop rag and silicone spray and wiped down both door seals.  The next morning, everything was covered in ice.  My truck opened right up!!!  So thanks, Eddie, for that tip.  I will attest that it definitely works!

P.S.  Only downside to that was then I had to clean the ice off the windows and drive the 35 miles to work...   :'(

Spraying silicon on the door seals works as well.
