I've had people at work tell me that I have a little baby truck because it's so little, so lately I've decided to show them what Ford Rangers can do. Some of you may have seen my last load of stone...here's the latest one. 






1,713 pounds of stone. I don't do this often, and I only live about 10 miles from work, but the truck handled it like a BEAST! Of course with something that heavy you have to start braking way early and downshift going up hills, but it was awesome. The looks people gave me as I passed them (And as they passed me lol) was priceless. I figured I'd start a thread so that if anyone has anything crazy they've loaded and hauled with their Rangers it could be shared here.

NO MERCY!!!!!!!!!

What is the given bed capacity of a Ranger like yours? 750#? 1000#? what does Ford say they can safely handle?

I have had mine way over the recommended load capacity and towing capacity.  I believe the towing capacity is more for the stopping power on a load.

Apparently the payload is 1,260. I'm 200lbs and my tool box easily weighs 200 as well.

Well at 1700 the bump stops were half an inch away from the axle, I don't think I'd be able to go much heavier unless I took the toolbox out and centered the load directly over the axle. And you're probably right about the stopping power, I had to let it out of gear way before I even needed to stop and slowly apply the brakes.

Here is mine with about an inch and a half clearance on the bump stops. I have also pulled a 28' cuddy cabin Cobia . I could pull the boat and get it up to speed but at 45 mph it took a quarter mile to get it to stop. I didn't have much of a choice at the time.

That's funny!! I've gotta get new springs, shocks and leaf spring shackles. A few years ago I got lowering shackles (2”) and they're not ideal for heavy loads! And my leaves are almost straight and I believe the rear shocks are the original

My guess is that there are a few broken pieces of suspension under there.
