The driver side power door lock switch is going out. Is this easily replaceable or am I going to need to pull the panel?

Backstory: I loaned my truck to my neighbors 25 year old daughter so she could get a love seat for her apartment about 3 weeks ago. She spilled a coke or some other sugary drink on the door. I sprayed it down with alcohol and put a fan on it to dry it out. It works unlocking and about a third of the time locking.

It isn't easy but it is cheap and replaceable. Taking the door panel off is a breeze and there are multiple tutorials on youtube about this. I have done 3 and did one over because I got it wrong. The motor is right at where the lock cylinder is. You will need a shorter than average screwdriver to pry the tab on the old one trust me. Take a cheap pocket clip screwdriver and saw the handle off as short as you can, right above where the metal was molded in.. I have 2 of them LOL lost the first one then found it. Makes it much easier, you will see when you are in there.

Basically feel where the tab is (I used a mirror on a handle to see it) and pry it with the shorty screwdriver while pulling the old motor toward the outside of the door. Putting the new one on is easier.

Had the same problem (no Coke involved though) with my passenger side. Since I am such a tight-ass with money, I took the switch apart and cleaned the contacts. Wasn't hard and works just fine. If you screw the switch up, you are no worse off than you were.

Completed and it now works. I also did a write-up in the How-To Section.
