So I saw this a while back and have been obsessing over the idea of swapping a mustang dash into a ranger. Of course this won't be happening to my truck, but maybe to a project ranger in the future! I would like to do a mustang interior conversion along with a 5.0 swap into a single cab stick shift Ranger. Anyway I figure I would get others obsessing over the idea so I'm not the only one.

Not sure how I feel about it. Never was particularly fond of the Mustang dash (or Mustang car, for that matter). The idea of a complete interior swap *IS* compelling, however. :)

Seems interesting. Id likely follow a build like this, but its not something Id be interested in. Mostly because the one thing I really like about trucks is the lack of center console that breaks the seating area.

Is there even enough room in a standard cab to get behind the steering wheel with a conversion like this?

I intentionally installed a full length console and bucket seats.  I'm 61 years old.  Road head isn't gonna happen... :(

One thing I always wonder with these dash swaps and mods... How likely are the airbags to actually deploy after a dash has been screwed around with that much?

Also I don't really get the temptation in the first place. You wanna swap so many things in the ranger, just makes me wonder why people even own them. If you don't like the dash, don't like the seats, don't like the engine, don't like the trans, etc. etc. why not just buy a truck that better fits your needs?

Good point, Scotty. I have changed a lot of things on my truck... nice additions such as EATC, auto headlamps, auto door locks, power seats, etc. The seats are the only thing I took OUT; and I really liked my seats, but it was hard to turn down power leather seats. My son got an upgrade when I did it because my super-nice 2003 seats are now in his 1999. Win-win! :)

I love the Ranger platform. The fact that Ford didn't give it the luxury options I desire doesn't make me love it any less. It just provides me the opportunity to create the one-off vehicle that pleases me. I obviously like power and automatic options with a bit of comfort thrown in for good measure.

Somehow or another, I missed this post.  That is a pretty straight line to drive for 27 hours! :)
