Everybody is out of warranty!

Seriously, we are all a bunch of guys that do most of the work on our vehicles and think twice about taking it to someone else.

I've got a 2013 Explorer so I stay on the explorer forum (2011-2018 section) a lot and it's like every post is along the lines of "My 2017 model has this issue. Do you know what the problem is?". I usually take a stab at it and suggest something and it always ends with something like "Well I'm just gonna take it to the dealer since it's under warranty"

WHY THE HELL DO YOU ASK IF YOU ARE JUST GONNA TAKE IT TO THE DEALER!?!?!?!

One guy had an issue with his A/C and I quickly diagnosed it as the ambient temp sensor. Given the conditions I asked him to look at the outside temp reading and it was -40 degrees (or --- , I forget). Knew the sensor had an open circuit and I've already seen a few Explorers with the sensor ripped off. So I had him check the lower bumper and sure enough the sensor was ripped off. Found the part number of the sensor and pigtail for him and told him how to fix it. Jackass comes back a couple days later and says he paid the dealer something like $250 to fix it. I spent time out of my day to help someone and try to save them money and they go off and do that. Sorry I was extremely irritated for that.

Little rant over.

Well we certainly appreciate your input here, I'm not afraid to use forscan because I know if I get stuck I can ask you :)

Still need to ask you about where you hooked your signal generator to the speedo so I can put a needle back on one of my clusters. LOL

Whichever one you hooked the arduino to in your vid.

I *think* I could get away with generating a signal to a known good cluster (I have 2 at least), adjust it to exactly 50 or 60, hook the signal to the needless wonder and push the needle on at 50 or 60 would that work?

I meant which one of your Rangers? 🤪

actually my needle was off and I did the exact same thing. Since I was injecting the signal to the existing wiring I pulled up forscan to see what the computer was reading and matched that on the IC.

LOL all of the rangers :)

That incredible natural blue cluster I have has a bad speedo, I was going to put a good one in it but want to get it close.

I installed it and the needle did not move. When I took it apart you could move the needle by hand and it would stay wherever you put it. I know it worked when I drove the mountaineer home.

I believe it is out of warranty LOL (fading back to subject)
