 I have never been able to get a spare out of any of my rangers. All of them have decent spares. I even have at least one of those black long keys. I can't see it working since it doesn't on mine, what am I facing getting this to work so lets say... I get a flat and need the spare.

 Best bet is to cut the cable on the winch and replace the winch. I just may know of someone who get you another winch

 Why can you not drop the spare?
It can be a PITA to line up the tool, but once it fits you just turn and the spare starts coming down.
Is your winch jammed up or?

I need my spares! We use them as rollers to roll truck carcass around the yard and to the scrapper

Mine's a '94 and just has the hinged 1 I think,about like on the '94 F150. I haven't looked under the '99 Ranger.
