My son (TheArcticWolf1911) has a set of TYC '06 mirrors, but they are manual.  I don't think they are made the same inside as the manual ones don't have to allow for the motor.  Sorry Mike, that was just a wild goose chase.

Can you take a picture of it & post it so I can see if there is enough room for me to mount a small led for a puddle light & also maybe come up with an idea of where you can mount your extra mirror.
Mike,  here is what I got !

Straight shot in !

The wires I have added, the connector is for the directionals, the other two wires are for the Heat and then I still need to add two wires for the Puddle lights.

This one shows the Outer Side and Bottom Depth.

Bottom is approximately 3" deep, Motor is approximately 2.5".  (My measurements might be wrong, I can redo if necessary).

The Out Side is the same depth on the lower portion and tapers a little.

Just leave room for the Glass movement on the outside edge, the inside edge is pretty packed.   See first pic.
I have found the glass is out more on the outer side of the mirror that I have adjusted on other rangers.

I have an LED Light to add also, my plan is as far out and as far... "towards the front of the housing, as possible...  watch the taper on the side and the radius on front edge.

Is the front really the back of the mirror housing... or is the back of the housing the front ?  LoL !
You decide, you can see !

I have had bad experiences with aftermarket mirror assemblies. Out of the 4 I have bought total, ALL of them vibrate excessively when you drive. Bought one for my dodge truck I had, bought one recently for a ranger, bought 2 for my niece's toyota.

Both the truck mirrors vibrate when you drive and cause distorted view. I sold the dodge (wish I still had it for hauling Rangers) and the ranger one still vibrates. I'm actively looking for one off a real ranger, 3 actually.

My niece has mentioned hers shake too.

If I absolutely had to have a good one I would probably shell out the cash for a dealership mirror. I will never buy an aftermarket mirror again unless someone here knows of a really good vendor.

Jim, stick with TYC brand and you should be good.  There may be other options of quality, but personal experience says TYC will work for you.

I purchased mine as OEM Mirrors off a Member of another Site, I have not looked for a p/n or FORD Symbol.
The replacement glass has tabs on them, I assume... to reduce shake, BUT I will only find out once they are finished and on the truck.

Added:

Had to go out to the Barn, I moved the truck out side for a Mother Nature Truck Wash... raining hard !

While I was there I checked my mirrors, found the Ford Stanp on the under side of one of the mounts.

Now is it the Motors or what that makes the vibration in the aftermarket mirrors ?

Kool Vue is the factory replacement. Real mirrors with real glass. I bought a pair of 06 power for $120 the previous year. Looked for another member towards the end of last summer and they were $75 a pair. You can find them at summit

Scrambler82, yes that was what I was looking for. Thank you very much.  Here is a pic of the drivers side mirror glass, if you look closely you can see 2 of the rust spots on the glass.

Not that is would make any difference, but I will look at the mirrors I removed and see what is in those spots on the back, if I remember correctly there is nothing.
The inners are plastic and nothing is in those areas that could rust except the chrome itself.

Could be poor prep on the back side before chroming.

Are your plans to replace the Glass with something new or completely different, maybe directionals or a JY glass ?

I thought mirrors were made with silver oxide.

OK, I was going to suggest mold ones but they aren't that good !

Since you are doing the work, you might as well get the full deal.

That my be, but I have seen so many of them with rust....  why else does a mirror rust ?

Until seeing Mike's pic, I had never seen a rusted mirror.

I have. There has to be some formulas of "mirror coating" that have ferrous base for the shine. Might be a production line that runs multiple products and it was right after a product change.

I worked for a few years in a packaging plant, back when dish washing powder was in a box. They boxed powdered sanitizers and powdered laundry detergent. Wasn't rare to get a big clump of yellow dish washing powder in your laundry box.

Jim, what you are saying is the mirrors that got the rust spot also got the cross contaminated costings ?

Interesting !

Always wondered how some did and some didn't !

I haven't yet but was going to look at the back of mine and see if there was some sort of tab that could cause rusting.

Thx for the info.

TheArcticWolf1911,

As always topics on this Site go off in all sort of tangents.

How are you making out on the Heated Mirror situation, are the Explorer Mirror available with what you want, i.e. heat, maybe directionals ?

Post up, we lost you in the midst of everyone talking.
