I was sitting in the house today, another day waiting for the headlights to arrive, I started thinking I should do something to '03 Red Ranger.

I did some work on the Raptor Grille Light System and decided to see just how hard it would be to remove the Mirror Glass.
I got out the Heat Gun, some Painter Tape, and a long Flat Blade Screwdriver, at least what I thought were the correct tools for the job.

I decide to tug on the glass just to see the amount of pressure needed to remove the glass, to my surprise the glass popped off, what... the second one did the same thing, I didn't use the heat or the Flat blade Screwdriver.

So now I have two Mirror Housings without glass, and planning the new glass wiring.

Before I start my Mirror Swap I was wondering:

1)  Anyone has replaced the Mirror Motors before putting new Mirror Glass in the Housings ?

2) Anyone know of a Blind Spot Mirror that fits the bottom of the '06 Mirrors ?

3) shining a Front Facing Directional Light, any thoughts ?   I have seen and read the Light on the bottom of the mirror I need that space for the Blind Spot Mirror, I'm thinking a shallow mount LED, mounted facing the front of the truck and as far out as possible.

Thanks for any input

Sorry to the OP for the High Jack.

Scrambler82, check Superbriteleds.com I purchased these with black housings to put in my 06 mirrors as puddle lights but I have not gotten around to it yet, but they look bright. You can get them in 4 levels of white or red, blue, green, or yellow. https://www.superbrightleds.com/moreinfo/led-wired-bolts/bolt-beam-12mm-led-light/1494/13114/

Thanks Mike,
These are exactly what I was going to use on the bottom edge of the doors.

I was going to positioned them close to the Inside door edge and as far toward the back edge of the doors, with a small flashing light on the edge facing the road.

I am now using these lights, in Amber, on my Grille, three of them positioned as a Raptor, working on it, three more holes and some wiring, want to use as daytime running lights on ALL the time.

Thanks for the suggestion, can always use the help.

Ltr

Those are kind of cool.  Problem for me is that my doors aren't open often enough or long enough to justify the cost and the time to install them.

The connecting should be simple, the cost, like so many things these days, I agree with.

Mine aren't from SuperBright, I'm thinking Onzium.
Similar but not the same.

Here is a quick pic of the grille and where I stand.

OK so I'm dreaming but it is what I would like to have.

Anyone ever see larger mirrors on a Ranger ?

I have a buddy that put big F250 tow mirrors on his Ranger. It has been done. He is on Instagram. @ datcliffordranger is his username. His name is Kameron. Good buddy of mine. Met him through FRN on Facebook. I am sure I could ask him to do a write up on how he did it. :)

Thank you but no, I have decided I don't want LARGE Mirror like the F250 or even the F150.

There is a Tow Mirror our there I posted that is a bolt on but it too is too big.

What I want just doesn't exist, if it was made of steel I could throw something together but the glass is a killer.

Looks like I will be using either a rectangular or a round flat glass mirror, center bolt ones 410 posted, or something similar.

I just need to order what I decide on so I can make a good connection inside of the mirror before I attempt to put the glass back in the '06 Housings.

Thanks or the thought !

Scrambler82 do you have your 06 mirrors apart? Is just the glass out or do you have the glass backing out?

Yes, I still have them apart, the motors are still inplace.

I want to reenforce the plastic housing where I will mount an additional mirror mount.
The mount will be made of aluminum, maybe a piece of 4" angle, cut and shaped to look better than it does.
Then bolt it to the bottom of the housing with a piece of thinner aluminum on the inside.

Mike, what are you thinking ?

Can you take a picture of it & post it so I can see if there is enough room for me to mount a small led for a puddle light & also maybe come up with an idea of where you can mount your extra mirror.

Mike, there is a butt load of room in an '06 mirror to mount a puddle light.  You just want to be sure that the light placement doesn't interfere with the movement of the glass.

I have to replace the mirror glass on my drivers side mirror & I want to do it when it is apart. I wanted to see what it looks like inside the mirror before I start on it to form a plan.
