I'm looking to change the grill on my truck, I want to go from this style

To this

My question is can the center grill portion be removed and swapped between the two styles? That way I don't have to worry about any paint work. Thanks

You have to change the whole assembly

It's such a small piece under the light that needs paint if you keep the grille black. Even if you have the grille bezel painted as well, I cant see it costing more than $100. I like the honeycomb myself. Once you switch I doubt you'll want to put the original back on

Well the paint on the truck isn't that great to begin with, a lot of scratches and dents. I did give it a pretty good detail when I first got it, so it looks good from 50ft away :D. I'll probably take the paint code to Oreilly's down the street and have them mix me a spray can and do it myself. I've done this a few times before with other vehicles before, so it'll be good enough for this truck.

When do we get pictures. We love watching members transform their trucks. Doesnt matter if it's well used or mint. You're saving another ranger from the crusher and we all appreciate that.

I keep forgetting to snap pics lol. I'll start to document my progress and make a thread. I wish I got before and after of the detail though because the exterior was bad. A LOT of iron contamination on the body and the rear bed had A LOT of over spray, like someone painted something in the bed :squint:. It's funny, when I decided to get a second vehicle I specifically wanted 1. Something non VW as I would probably spend way to much fixing it up, and 2. I needed a truck. Even though I originally was ignoring #1 as I almost purchased a 1981 VW Rabbit Truck aka "Caddy" :D, but the guy flaked . But now that I have this Ranger, I didn't realize I would like it so much, and I am probably going to be spending more on it than originally intended, but that's ok lol.

You mentioned you clay barred the exterior. I just had my truck exterior detailed. I dont have the time or daylight to do it myself. The truck was painted a year ago and I needed to get it sealed. I am mentioning this because part of the detail package was a NanoSkin auto scrub. I've never used a clay bar but it sounds time consuming and like a bit of a PITA. I searched up nanoskin auto scrub before I dropped it off to be detailed. It's basically the modern version of a clay bar with a lot of improvements. It can be applied by hand like the clay bar or used on a rotary. Un like the clay bar, if you drop it on the ground, just rinse it off. Because you can use it on a rotary you can cover the whole vehicle in a lot less time too. Check it out. It may be your next best friend when you detail again
