Just to answer your question. I'll be putting the one (1) back in it. Its a 5 channel amp designed to run a whole system. 85W x 4 - 400W x 1/740W total system power and the most I've ran since the old days.. usually I stay under 350-400W total system power.

I have a MACH stereo system (OEM from a Mountaineer). 110 watts. That is PLENTY for my ears! LOL

you could also install a switch to toggle between 2 temp sensors... like i'm doing in my ranger.

i've never used the speed sensor wire & my temp updates, although it may be a little slower updating, no biggie though.

Terry, are you saying that the OHC temp will update without the VSS signal, albeit less frequently?

Relax, we are working on it. There is a test area and it looks promising so far.

Round two (because trying to edit a post and you can't see what your tying absolutely sucks)....Ford temp display modules of the mid 90's-200X vintage that people are talking about in these forums use the conditioned vehicle speed signal (ie, square wave) to indicate to the device (could as an example be EATC, as I know well) that the vehicle is or is not moving. The reason these modules need and use this signal is because, when the is/is not not moving and the outside temperature drops, the module will update at a rate of every few seconds until the correct temperature is reported. When the outside temp goes up AND the module does NOT get a valid speed signal, the module updating frequency defaults to increasing (upping) the reported temperature at the rate of 1*F every 20 minutes (personally tested OHC module behavior and response to temp increase and decrease with and without a speed signal). The correct reason for decreasing the rate of increasing temp updates when a vehicle is stopped and in a correctly working system, as evidenced by various Ford TSB's, is to lessen/eliminate false temperature readings caused when the vehicle is stopped (stoplight for example) and conditions that would cause a false temp reading exist (ie and for example, radiation heat transfer between a scorching hot black radiator/black asphalt/black car and your black temp sensor). If you do not wire the speed signal to the module, then what happens is the module, in absence of the speed signal, defaults to increasing the temperature at the rate of 1*F every 20 or so minutes. If you back out of your 70* garage on a 90* day, park in a underground parking garage somewhere then leave, park in a cool shady area then drive away, or any other condition where the correct temp reported needs to be done in a way that it can be increased at a rate faster than 1*F every 20 min, and it can't, then you will be looking at a bogus temp being reported.

Okay Bill... so the short version is: hook up the damn VSS signal wire or get a bogus temp reading. My thoughts exactly, so that is why, when I do mods, I hook up everything. :)

I suppose that's one way to say it. The post was intended to explain how it works to anyone interested in understanding what is going on.

Yes, it was, and it did a great job of it. I knew the VSS signal prompted the updating of the display, but now I know HOW it does it. So thanks for the info (I copied your post and added it to my OHC info)!

So many guys don't hook that wire up... or the BK/PK wire for the auto dim mirror. It's like; why not? You lose functionality when you half-ass it.

Yeah, I test all the ones i mod on my bench power supply.
temp will display & update when i warm the sensor with heat gun. not sure the normal frequency of updating temp, but mine always seem to update every few seconds.

i've also noticed that it doesn't really matter if you connect the temp sensor with blue/white to blue/white & blue/yellow to blue/yellow or vice versa. i try to wire them up correctly anyhow, but it seems to work just fine.

Yes, you can reverse the wires without any ill effects. I think it was Anthony (SheltonFilms) that told me you could do that. But why would you do it purposely? I try to ensure that everything is wired properly and completely with my mods, even if I really don't plan to use a particular feature.

Very possible. Probably wouldn't be the first time Ford used old tech to get something done for cheap.

I've got an explorer that doesn't have one! Real disappointed. I have one from a mountaineer to put in my ranger, I even have some cool LED's for it I got from somewhere can't remember :hi
