What is needed to go from this

To this?

I have found the power window assembly and motor for sale. I've replaced door actuators and power mirrors in power doors so I know they are available. The ranger in question is a 2010 sport 4x4.

If I collect all the pieces and parts are the power options already in the wiring harness or will they need to be spliced in

There are a few options. I don't have mine in yet but instead of the stock harness/stock relay box/stock GEM route I bought an aftermarket window controller. It will make both windows auto down and auto up. Uses stock switches. I have an extra set but you are a billion miles away.

There is also a Thread on the other Ranger-Forums.com, that does the switch with only the door harnessing.

I copied the thread, or at least what I needed from it, and it looks very doable.

I got doors off an XLT Extended Cab and will be swapping in my '03 EDGE Standard Cab.

Keep this thread up to date with your work, it will help a lot of people, as well as myself.
Thx / Ltr

I just read through that thread and I can't do it. I have a cordless drill. Anyone have a "corded" drill I can borrow?

I can't wait to do mine, I have mirrors also.

I was thinking of using a time delay relay on the power side too so if you turn the ignition off and forgot to roll up the window you still have a chance for 30 seconds or so without turning the key back on. These little time delay modules cost like 4 bucks on e-bay.

Sound good... !
I have corded tools, the battery stuff is ok but keeping the batteries up is a PITA !

I have the Powered Mirrors, but they are '06's, not sure they are really that much larger but these are already mod'd to fit the '03 and they were at a good price.
I wanted to add extra directional LED to the mirror housings but ended up with LED Arrows in the glass.

The time delay would be a good idea on the windows, and auto up modules would work with that setup, maybe add a puddle light that stays on for five minutes or so.

Always a lot of ideas for the Ranger Mod infected owners.

ArcticWolf put full power doors on his 1999 XLT (he needed new doors, so took advantage of this for the power options).  On his, he had to pull the dash and add a bunch of wires to the main plugs to get everything working.  Your mileage may vary on newer trucks.

As for that time delay thing: didn't you do that already following my accessory power delay article in the How-To section, or did I just dream that?

It was no dream. I have a smaller relay board I am going to use for iteration 2 of your mod, but with time delay also.

While my modded truck was in the garage, I reached through the passenger door and started it, let it run for 10 minutes to charge the battery. I reached through the passenger door and flipped the key off. The accessory power stayed on (you warned me) and it drained the battery. My charger will not pick up from zero volts so I had to jump it first to get a charge enough for my charger to take over. It was like zero degrees outside.

So I'm going to make it turn off with the signal to the dome light OR a set timer.... whichever comes first. Of course I have had this planned for 2 years and in my usual fashion it is not done yet.

I like the timed idea, as that is a more modern approach.  Yes, I warned you! LOL  Luckily, I haven't done that to myself (my arms aren't long enough to reach the key without opening a door).  Get that designed, tested and installed... then do a How-To so I can do my truck! :-)

I bought these off eBay

And I ordered the door actuators and window assembly with the motor from Ford. I have an extra set of power mirrors from my 07.

Once everything arrives, I have a friend who can source the wiring harness and put it all together. 😉

I could have continued with the good deals and bought about 6 sets off ebay for the price of OEM Ford ones but being that this is for family I wanted good stuff, I also dont want to make it a pain for 410customs who's doing the install. This gives him another opportunity to showcase his knowledge and make another how to for the ranger community which I volunteered him for... lol

Thank you 410customs for all you've done and do for us here!!!😊

Jim,

Do you remember what After Market Control Module you were talking about for the Power Window Swap ?
I am hoping to start mine sooner than later and using part of the OEM Harness and adding wire as needed and the Auto up/down modules from..., I think, an Explorer.

Just thinking out loud again !

I will look it up and see what involved.
I want to try the other How-To, "Installing Power Windows using OEM Parts" first, then this will be Plan #2 !
Thanks
