OK I just found out there might be differences in the dome lights LOL. I just pulled one off a reg cab and it only has 2 lights, my ex cab of the same year has 3 and is larger. The ex cab I was going to put it in has a tab in the wrong place.

What is up? And is there a way to remove the connectors (under the light attached to roof of truck) without snapping the plastic clip?

From what I have seen at work there are like 4 different ones. It's easy to change the wiring on the roof

I was wrong, they are the same size just tabs in the wrong place. One has a middle light the other don't. Might just be a short cab long cab thing or perhaps there was an interior lighting option, dunno.

Right is the ex cab with extra light left single cab no middle light.

that's odd. i've never seen a 2 bulb bubble dome before... only the 3 bulb bubble domes.
you should be able to snip off those extra tabs & bolt right up though.

What's the LED number for the middle bulb which is a 212-2. I can't really find an LED replacement.

Depends... are you looking for warm, medium, daylight and how bright do you want it?

You can't go wrong with a Sylvania 578 they are pricey but out of ALL the LED based bulbs I have purchased in the last 4 or so years... the 2 Sylvania tail lights I have are the only ones still performing at 100%. I imagine this is a "you get what you pay for" situation.

We have a local vendor here BUGGMAN who has done more research on LED stuff than anyone I know.

I have one of his prototype 3rd brake light with separated turn signals.

He's kinda like our local go to for LED info.

Has anyone done any comparison on how each of the lights light-up the cabs ?

AND... although a little different... there is the Explorer OHC Mod, once set up should give a lot of extra light to the interior... and with the Buggman LED Mod, the bulbs should last for a long time. It can be setup as a manual override and work when all you need is a Map Light.

Not exactly. I had to drill mounting holes for it. This light bolted right in my 06 but not in my 98. It's easy enough to figure out how to install so I didnt take any pictures of the install

I'm going to get myself one. I like the idea of more interior lighting. My dome light is terrible, even with an LED bulb in it.

A good way to add more is install an explorer over head console
