While doing a 5 speed swap on my 98 using a 2000 (11/99 build date) donor for the parts. I ran into a snag with 1 single blue/orange wire pin 1 of the 16 pin PATS connector. After resourcing with 410customs and JAMMAN and a nice web site http://www.bbbind.com I found the wire that seemed to not exist. Now not all 2000 4.0 rangers are like this. Jamman and 410 both have factory wiring books for the 2000 ranger. My donor was an early build. As it was built 11/99. The blue/orange wire goes from pin 1 of the 16 pin pats connector to post 86 (tan/red wire) of the starter relay. Without this wire pats doesn't allow the truck to start. It will crank over but that's it. Upon investigation of the problem I found that the blue/orange wire kills the spark to the spark plugs. Hope this helps guys using an early build 2000 donor

See! You went from "not a wiring guy" to "hey I know what I'm doing" good show! thanks for posting this up. I also added the wire to my chicken scratch pats wiring notes
