Just replaced my Monroe Spectrums - Suspension Tech - Tech Section

Based on when they became available on the market, and how many miles my truck has, these shocks have a maximum of 30k on them.
The rear bobbled driving down the road and when i removed the fronts, neither rebounded from compression and one of them felt rough and binding as i compressed it.
I went for KYB ExcelG replacements, but for another $70 i could upgrade to the KYB Gas-a-Justs which are upgraded from factory spec and are particularly suited to trucks and SUVs.

After more driving i wanted to update that i'm still very happy with these, and although the truck seemed firm enough and rode well enough previously, it's considerably more refined now, i would buy them again if needed.

I have never had the chance to change shocks from ones I bought to another I bought. When I buy shocks it is usually a replacement for the crappy neglected stock ones that usually already have over 100,000 miles on them so ANYTHING is a great improvement.

I would buy the ones you got just on recommendation due to my lack of actual comparison, so thanks :)

i just put some monroe oe spectrums on my wife's cobalt, love them. i was thinking about putting the spectrums on my ranger, but if these kyb gas shocks are that much better, this may sway my purchase. i hope i can bug you later to see if you still like them lol

Yeah, still do - but keep thinking i should have splashed out on getting the twin tube (gas-a-justs) upgraded versions over OE replacement ;)

hmmm wonder if the front or rear would benefit the most from the 'gas-a-justs'? i definitely want something awesome on the rear, theres a curve on a highway near me that has washboard bumps & man it makes me almost fishtail

Not sure you'd want to make the split tbh, price difference isn't too much, i just wasn't willing to spend it at the time, and honestly, managed to overlook the option until a friend at work upgraded to them instead of the ExgelG i found for him.

Front carries more weight, so good to have nice ones there, but back carries variable weight, so having the nicer ones there will help in more conditions.
