thread sealant on the front two bolts? They enter the water jacket
Ford calls for thread sealant which is basically liquid teflon tape
Also for the coil pack tripod the pass side bolt should have the longer stud........ hard to see in the pic, but feel free to ask me how I know

(okay I mounted my coil pack yesterday and guess what....that bolt MIA it snapped upon disassembly so my coil pack tripod it more of a two hold down nut wonder)

I love that crinkle paint.. plus TRICK FLOW HEADS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! WOOOOOOHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

I did not use anything on them front two bolts other than antiseize for the aluminum head threads.. Think I should pull them back out real quick?

YES you should remove those two bolts and add thread sealant!!!!!!!!!!!!!! You do NOT want one to break off in there the nest time you go to remove the lower intake......trust me

Something about a 2 month battle vs a broken stud in my 96's lower intake....then I broke a drill bit in there...then I spent $100 buying better and better drill bits to try and get through it....it would have been faster to pull the engine and take it to a machine shop then to go through what I did

The 4 bolts that go through the water pump and timing cover and into the front of the engine also reach the water jacket, those also need thread sealant.
Anti seize MIGHT do it, but Ford calls for thread sealant, so that is what I use.

Remember this was a 289 back in 1963 and I guess back then they thought it was a good idea to drill these studs all the way into the water jacket. Steel bolt through aluminum into iron block with coolant on the tip = rusty bolt in short order = broken in engine, unless you protect it.

PCV routing.......I can get
EVAP routing............ explorer 302 to ranger, is toooo easy I can get
Vacuum routing, again super easy, I can get
Throttle bracket!?!?! YOUR KILLING ME HOLMES!!!! laughing my ass off here....... I remember those days, "where the hell does this go?" HAHAHAHAHA

I have complete 302 engines here I can get some pics, I also have complete trucks I can get pics, and I have two 302 projects in the shop, I can get pics for you

There are an A%^load of pics in my personal build threads..... lets go back a ways, you should go through my Bronco II 5.0 conversion and my 96 explorer build up....I bet those questions get answered before I can even get pics

Bronco II 5.0 swap:
https://www.explorerforum.com/forums/threads/410-fortune-5-0l-efi-4r70w-drivertrain-conversion.124626/

Explorer 5.0 build, making one good truck from two:
https://www.explorerforum.com/forums/threads/410fortune-96-5-0l-xlt-refurbish-making-1-great-ex-from-2.142851/

I'm alot smarter now so be kind :) Or am I? maybe I should read them too!!!

Went to the yard today . Got pics and my missing bolts and studs so I can get the upper intake, vacum hoses, pvc, and other miscellaneous  stuff assembled...
It took longer than expected..
Ended up finding  factory REAR sway bar  and factory fog light buckets  off of a 2000 sport . Had an 8.8 but it was open differential

Every time I unclip injectors a couple of the latches break. I have never had one come off. If the rubber falls out I shove one back in there but have never had one pop off. I have been using dielectric grease on every connector I touch for years now, keeps moisture out which will corrode and destroy the crimps and terminals.

I agree with replacing the connectors but don't let it keep you from firing it up.

I hate getting old, after you originally posted the missing fitting on your intake I walked out to mine, opened the hood, was going to take a pic. Noticed a socket in the battery tray I had borrowed and thought I lost, grabbed the socket, closed the hood and went back in to work.

you can get the injector plugs off without breaking them
Pull real hard and then just lightly lift up on one of the clips they will slide off. I have a small pick I use for this, or tiny flathead...
You cannot get the drivers side injectors with the intake in place...no

So what I thought was a good deal on the used torque monster headers, turns out not so good after all!  Got these for $400 a while back.. dude said one tube was modified for some unknown reason.. well I bolted them on the heads and went to put the steering shaft on, no go! Thank God I didn't send them off to be ceramic coated! Would have been $250 wasted. Not sure why someone cut up a $1000 set of headers, but they did. Now, I've got to try and salvage them. Cut the tube off that was hacked up and off to my welder it goes...
Last picture is how they were previously "modified".. IMAGINE THAT!

I can weld the easy stuff. I know that with a high end gas Mig welder I might be able to get an air tight weld but there would be a lot of grinding and re-welding. It would not be pretty. My 78 year old uncle could knock it out with a text-book perfect weld. But that was what he did for 35+ years at the rail road.
