Been looking for years. I just settled for the best of the expo's I went through. You can get a NOS of the other steering wheel, the one that is thinner and probably plastic. Those don't usually go bad though.

I haven't seen yet a NOS steering wheel in the wrapped style. If you find someone that does it tell them they have 2 customers. At least.

WOOOOOOHOOOOOOOOO

Nice work man
Happy New year

You should look into upgrading to the 2005+ steering wheel, they are so much better looking
You can find the wheels all day long at junk yards but finding a non deployed airbag can be tricky...... (private party or ebay)
Otherwise I have purchased the leather wrap kits at the parts store, remove wheel, go inside and start stitching
I re did the 1988 wheel in my BII years and years ago with a black steering wheel wrap kit and it still looks great. Cut the factory wrap off, install your new one and stich it all the way around.

So cool it is running and you are getting the bugs out........ FYI not many conversions go without some bugs, like none.....ever.....ever
Thread sealant on the fitting at the power steering pump, the hose never gets tight inside the fitting it is supposed to be able to move around and still not have leaks

AWESOME WORK!!
Cam sounds really good!! Cant wait to install cut outs on the 07 now

Made my day! Stay warm (snowing again here hooray!)

Right back atcha bro. And I gota say it again J..THANKS for all your help, ESPECIALLY on the wiring.  I just could not comprehend it to save my azz.

I still have some.small things to do..but I'm rounding the corner now.

What I'm going to do on the rear.. Im taking it to a chassis shop... having the spring perches welded on the 8.8 ranger rear.. I dont trust the flip kit, the little "U" bracket that sits in the bottom of the spring perches, not on slicks and leaving at 4500-5500 rpms

Adjusting the valves again.. they keep coming loose.  I got it now, Uhh..I think.lol
So before I set zero lash, went my 3/4 turn past that and set the lock screw..

Nope.. not the proper way to do it, at least not from what people say and I read..

Better way is to get your zero lash, go what your cam says do, 1/2-3/4 turn past zero lash..
THEN back the adjusting screw off about 1/16th- 1/8th. Set the set screw and tighten them both together.

At least thats what I read and what people say..

🤣🤣🤣 definitely!!
So I feel like an idiot! Almost learned a hard lesson here folks.. DO NOT GET IN A HURRY!

I had to take the rocker arm studs out when I was measuring for the pushrods, to get the pushrod checker in there..APPARENTLY  I forgot to torque it back down!!
Going over everything with a fine tooth comb!!

Just got it all back together.  I triple checked everything on both sides  while I had the upper intake off. Shouldn't have any more issues out of the roller rockers coming loose!

First real drive...on start up tune still.  Ill put a couple.miles on it befor it hits the dyno. Rolling in second gear, mash the throttle a little, destroys the 315/35/17's!

(4)P1000:?
(5)P1702: transmission related

P0708 DTRS circuit high input = MIA (trans range sensor is missing) Your tune will fix that
P0141 - 02 sensor heater circuit, B1S2. The PCM is not seeing feedback from the downstream sensor on bank 1 (pass side)
Do you have downstream sensors? Are they plugged in? If so check your fuses for all things HEGO (heated exhaust gas oxygen sensor)
P1161 - I will assume you meant po161 since you are not driving a BMW. P0161 = 02 sensor heater circuit B2S2 (downstream sensor drivers side, same same)
p1000 - Drive cycle test not complete = go drive it more
P1702 - - DTRS circuit failure = MIA DTRS!! You aint got no range sensor = tune will fix that

This is pretty good! If you have rear (downstream) 02 sensors hooked up you should check the fuses and wiring to and from them.

Truck looks and sounds awesome dude! Glad you found the rocker stud issue now!! Always a good idea to get some heat cycles done and then check things over....even if it is under the valve covers and a huge PITA!!!!!!!!!!

SHES DRIVING AROUND!!!!!!! HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!!!!!!!!!!

Lmao.. its a hillbilly BMW! Hahahaaa

I have no rear downstream o2's. Was suppose to be deleted as well as the auto functions.  I "assume" on the dyno tune he will take care of that. Told him what exactly I needed done and he said no problem.  I guess on this start up tune and disnt do that. Its only limited to 4500 rpms. He told me normally he doeant do this type of tune . Its not ideal but he made an exception.  So Im thankful of that.

Man, the truck feels real good. Even though I've only got a couple around the block drives and one 3 rd gear cruise down the road a bit.. The truck feels pretty stock as far as the ride quality.  Maybe a tad better to be honest.  Once the suspension goes on I'll know more.

I built the truck because of my mustangs. I was going to buy another 5.0 coupe but the prices of those cars is insane now days. So I thought to myself, just build a ranger. Its a truck. Even though its a small truck and can not haul a lot of weight, it can still be used as a truck.  So here we are. A 2000 ford ranger with a  400hp v8  5 speed  that looks like it came with it. Retaining all the stock v8 explorer cooling system, factory  ac, power windows and mirrors, factory 6 cd changer, keyless entry..all the comfort and power amenities  of a loaded out highway car in truck form.
I'm very happy the way the truck turned out so far.
 HAPPY NEW YEAR BRO!

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!

Truck beds are so useful, a 5.0 Ranger makes an excellent daily driver grocery getter toy hauler weekend warrior!!

Ford never put the 5.0 into the Ranger, but when they stuffed it into the explorer they mine as well have :)

I'm thinking its going to do 355/360ish to the tire. It is very VERY crisp on the throttle and not tuned yet..
Driving it... overall.. its a win for me . I think I'm really going to enjoy the truck J. It feels a little better than stock ride quality on stock suspension right now. I'm going to put on a DJM 4/5 OR 3/4 drop with their A-arms.  Seems to be the go to from what I've read.

Final gear ratio will be determined when I get it on the highway. Remember, its built to be a daily driver highway truck, not a race truck. May end up with 355 gears.

Wow sounds great.
Sounds like a fun daily!
How's the noise in the cab for daily driving? (I realise that's subjective)

To be honest, with these mufflers, slp 1's.. interior noise is a lot!!  I just put these on because my other mufflers, black widow venum 250's wasn't here in time. Basically the slp 1's are a 4 or 5  inch open pipe. Nothing  else to it. No baffles no nothing.

Finally done working out of state..home for a little bit. Putting the Walboro 255 pump in then dyno it and see what it does.. pretty confident it will see 350 to the tire or very close.

This shifter is there for a reason.. Built the truck to daily drive and travle in.. no WOT  powershifts with this ape hanger!🤪☕

FINALLY!! Just got the 255 Walboro fuel pump in.  Been super busy at work  anyway. Now to get this thing  in and finally dyno tuned!!!

Oh.. made a trip down to  Nashville  Saturday morning.. my brother and I left here at 3 am and headed out.
I've been looking for a rust free 10th Gen. Ford short bed v8 5 speed Lariat  to semi restore just to have a nice truck.. found this one for 1500 bucks!  These trucks are the most dependable truck I've personally owned as long as you don't try to kill it.
This one is a 97 , every single option you can get.. leather (although destroyed) power everything  including seats, 4 wheel abs. It was a used as a farm.teuck down in Alabama.  I honest don't think it was ever washed  or cleaned  until I got it. It will be a nice driver and is now.. just got to do some things to it. I drove it back 400+ miles and it never missed a beat!
It's actually a very rare truck if you know much about this style and year trucks(97-03)
