did you see the wiring I just did on the 98? For the alternator?
Yours will be similar

I also will be wiring up a 2001 sport trac this week for my stepson. I will show you what we have to do to the sport trac. His sport trac is a late build 01, so it had pats type B. We will be KEEPING the 01 sport trac door and igntion lock key. Piggyback the 99 style PATS system A into the trucks wiring and then PROGRAM the type B key to work with our V8 PCM and PATS type A system...
Also wire up the power distribution and alternator harness

We are just waiting on parts in the mail from my friend Brett in Colorado who did all the hard stuff for me on this one (He has the programmer that will do the pats stuff, he sent it to me to use!)

I'm going to go back and re-read it, as for your 2001 sport track I'll for sure be commenting on the thread. Once this wiring is done it's game on with throwing the motor in!

So PATS is different between 99 and 2001? What are the differences between PATS A and PATS B?

only late build sport tracs in 01 will be type B pats

Type B has the pats functions built into the PCM
The Type A still has a pats module behind pass air bag

I hope everyone had a great Christmas! I got a SCT x4 and a set of obx headers! (They are on the way so no pictures). I might put the x4 on the truck now just to get use to it and play with it hahaha

Man the x4 is fancy! For sh*ts and giggles I put in a 87 octane tune, put 5 percent more tranny line pressure on 1/2-2/3-3/4 shifts. Can't wait for a custom 89/91 tune for the v8!

Can you change shift points with the x4 as well?

I'm pretty sure it can but I'm not 100% sure. I'll have to plug it back in tomorrow

Just got the mount for the x4 today. I'm really liking how it worked it's magic on the tranny shift timing.

Does the X4 have to remain plugged in to retain the changes or does it reprogram the truck's module?

I've seen a LOT of them that way over the years. I have two or three sets of those switches in my stash of parts along with a couple of really nice leather-wrapped wheels. I converted my 2003 truck over to a 2004 leather wheel, so I don't have this issue.

I leave it plugged in since has up to 20 gauges of data it can show. It won't drain the battery either

At 410custom, I've been reading and reading your 1998 build thread and what I can come up with most of the wiring will have to done with the motor in place.

Sooo I really need to finish ordering parts lol.

If I want something, I work for it, rather than HOPE i get it someday. Trying to get that one through to my nephew who HOPES he gets LUCKY someday...rather than working for it. Lol. I know if I work for it I'll get it and hes not convinced of that yet. If it seems hard, he just decides he will never get it and lowers his expectations rather than rise to the challenge. Sad...I'm trying to set an example....Lol.

I'm also single and dont have children so I dont have to bargain for the things I want and no ones doing without.😊

My truck is a small reward to me from me for all that I've done for others around me. This is the first big thing I've ever done for myself. For the last 20 years I spent all ive earned trying to buy happiness in a relationship, then fixing my mothers house. I'm done with the relationship and moms house is good. Now its ME time!!!🥰

Hey I'm the same way, I'll wait for big parts, small stuff I will just get one part one week, wait two, so forth so forth. Don't let up on your nephew it'll pay off soon enough.

My parents separated when I was like 5, of course things are tight. which taught made me to wait for stuff and have goals. One of my life dreams is to own a 1999-2001 Nissan skyline. I'm not picky and going for a GTR, I'll go for a GTT (6 speed, turbo, RWD). they will become legal in 2025 so I have time to save a nice nest egg and get one imported.
