That would be cool to film it all going back together and play with the footage...🤪

It looks cool rightside up but it kinda blows my mind upside down....

Set up a digital camera and set it for delay stop action shots. I had a guy on one of my Satellite install teams who would set up his camera every morning. Installing a 6 meter dish would be about a 4 minute presentation with a half second on each photo that in real time was 7 seconds apart (some of it got edited out). It would be interesting on an engine swap start-to-finish.

wicked cool progress! Got the cab back on already nice!!

Now this AM I went back through the thread to see what wires I need to lookup
and I see this:

the 4406 I got has no output shaft speed sensor like the 4404 that's on the trans still.

What year is the 5.0 PCM? I'm guessing its a 97-97.5 since your old awd t case had a speed sensor
The 5.0 IS expecting to see a VSS signal from that transfer case so it can shift the auto trans properly

So there are two possible paths from here:
Add VSS to the 4406. (I have done this, it is possible using parts from earlier 4406)
or
BUY the Dakota Digital universal speedometer correction device and we should be able to get the VSS signal we need for the pcm from this.
It will also be needed to make your 2002 truck happy. I am going through this RIGHT NOW on the 2002 sport trac v8 thread.
Your truck is the same

You see in 2002 the v6 speedometer, cruise and ABS all get the speed sensor signal (VSS) from the OSS axle AFTER it is "buffered" by the V6 pcm.
Well you just removed the V6 pcm, so the correct VSS signal for your speedometer, abs, cruise is not there.
The dakota digital box ($100+/- on summit) will perform the buffering function for us.
The v8 PCM does not do these "buffering" calculations. In the explorer the ABS module does the speedo "buffering"

Same as the 02 sport trac conversion thread.

Congratulations Dude!!!!!!!  The main thing is that it runs.  Now you just have to tidy up the loose ends (like the fuel pump fuse thingy).  Awesome work... you've earned some cold beers!

The ecm is a 1996, I fine with the Dakota digital. Where would I pick a signal up from?

a conversion will always have bugs to sort out.
It took me 2 years to sort out the wiring for my first v6 swap 20+ years ago. Once you go through this you will have a FULL understanding of your Ranger
You and the truck will be connected like twins
Well done getting it running so quickly! It was running smoothly too!
So many conversions get to this point only to find out they have to pull and engine again, or something major. You are on your way to having a 5.0 Ranger in days or weeks not months or years!

I am working on where to pull the VSS signal from right now.... The rear axle speed sensor wires where they go into the old v6 pcm is where I am shooting for....stay tuned.
